hey girls, just a quick question. i feel kicks etc a few times a day and mostly at night when im quiet and still but im wondering how often i should feel them???

i dont count at the moment but on a quiet day i feel maybe 5 and on a day where bubs is active it could be 10...is it normal not to feel him alot and then get a flurry of kicks for a few minutes and then he would be quiet again!?!?!

didnt want to be phoning my doctor with this lol xxxxxx:hugs:

I think it's around the start of the 3rd trimester when you're supposed to feel regular movement and count per hour. At the moment we can feel proper kicks but not necessarily baby just moving around a bit so we're not aware of everything. As long as you keep feeling movement at points throughout the day and there's no big change, there's nothing to worry about!

thanks hun its hard to know when it should get regular enough to keep track lol xx

I only just started feeling movement around 21/22 weeks. I dont think there is a set amount of time that you have to feel bubba.

Im 25 weeks and was at midwife today. She previously told me I wouldnt monitor movement until 28 weeks but today she told me that I need to count kicks (10 a day) as of tomorrow. She said before now it didnt matter as baby can have days where he isnt very active so at 22 weeks I dont think you need worry. x

I'm 22 weeks and just started feeling baby kick last week. He tends to give me a few in the morning and a few at night. Some days it's just one or two kicks each time frame, other days it is more like 10 to 15.

Babies tend to sleep 12-14 hours during this time... leaving them awake only 10 hours the entire day and even that time is split up into sections. It's perfectly normal not to feel baby all the time yet, and for some days to be more active than others.

I must say though, i can't wait till i start feeling my little guy all the time. I just can't seem to get enough of it and feel so close to him when he kicks.

thanks girls i feel much better now!! guess the main thing is that im feeling something.... oh the stress of it all haha xxxxxxxx

Hi ya, as everyone else has said I don't think were meant to monitor movement as yet but I would say I feel baby every day usually after eating and them when I go to bed! If that helps at all?

i only get that too - remember the kicks might not be as hard and baby still has alot of room - so you won't feel as many as you do in third tri.
you might not also notice them while you're doing something - and when you're sitting down completely resting you may notice them more.

if you're really worried - a cold drink or fizzy drink (or a cold fizzy drink) can usually wake baby up, and get baby active - i remember being told to try this with my daughter by my midwives.

i wouldn't be waiting regular movements yet - because although your baby probably does have a pattern - even if you feel alot of reduced movements at this stage it could just be because your baby is facing a different way... whereas later on baby won't have any room.

I am exactly the same as you, feel a few kicks a few times a day, maximum. I'm 22 weeks on Wednesday. I feel a bit anxious about it sometimes as I keep hearing of girls at 17/18 weeks feeling loads of kicks/movement! But ultimately it is up to the baby and I might just be missing her kicks when I'm asleep etc.

You should feel 50 movements a day.,.. No really im joking.

NNo one can tell you at this point how much movement you will or wont feel. Your baby still has lots of room to run and hide. Most doctors don't start asking you to count movements until aorund 28 weeks, and that is 10 movements in 2 hours.

hey :D
I still have not felt proper kicks because of my placenta position and that does have something to do with the kicks you feel or do not feel. I still only get flutters or a sort of pounding sensation, it feels like someone is playing a drum in my tummy :D
I was told not to worry about counting kicks until 25 weeks and not to worry about movements until 28-30wks xooxxo

thanks girls my placenta is slightly to the fron she said its not completely blocking kicks as its high enough for baby to kick underneath but its still cushioning some of it. i definitely feel about 8-10 a day at the moment so i guess i have a while to go until i feel 10 in 2 hours lol. thanks so much for all the advice i feel loads more reassured and i think its something soo many women google lol xxxxxxx

I'm almost 20 and baby loves to be active in the morning and sometimes at night...their pretty quiet through the rest of the day though

flutters at 20 weeks and now getting stronger with a bit more of a daily rhythm/pattern xx

Kicks & movements will be pretty inconsistent at 22 weeks. I started feeling kicks and movements at 21 weeks, and even now at almost 27 weeks my son's movements sometimes vary. They say that if you ever feel a decrease in movement or no movement to call the doctor. My Dr isn't having me do kick counts - just to keep an eye on activity. I ALWAYS feel him @ night, and early in the morning. You'll get a feel for his/her pattern within the next few wks.
