I was just wondering how often I should be sterilizing bottles, nipple, soothers, etc.. My wife and I have been washing and then sterilizing everything every day, but recently she has heard that it is not good to sterilize the bottles because the boiling water releases a toxic chemical from the bottles. This was the first I had ever heard this. Has anyone else heard of this or do you have any suggestions. The last thing I would want is for my 3 month old to get sick because we are trying to be too cautious. But I also don't want her to get thrush due to unclean bottles.

I do what you are doing - sterilise everything everyday - dont use dirty bottles etc. Never heard of the chemical thing:flower:

Im guessing the toxic chemical you mean is BPA..you can get bottles without this in them..and you should be using a clean sterilised bottle for each feed..hth

As above, sterilise before using bottle again and most (i think) are BPA free now

I used to steralize twice a day, never use a bottle more than once until it has been re- steralized! Dummys etc still need to be done but I wasn't as strict, it's was more the bacteria in the milk I was concerned over. X

I sterilize bottles everyday after my son has used them once.

Same as the others, I always use a clean sterile bottle. I sterilise once a day.

up until my son was over 18months old i sterilised everyone once to twice a day, most bottles are toxin free nowadays but some are not, you shouldn;t use them anyways because these have been linked to childhood cancers etc, even without sterlising these bottles the chemicals are still released. i would advise checking your bottles online for this and if they are change them now, you should never not sterlise your bottles as this is dangerous for your baby as well as is using unboiled water.

I always use a clean, sterilised bottle for each feed. I tend to wash them and keep them in the steriliser until needed (Unless I've made a few bottles in which case they are in the fridge).

i use a clean sterilised bottle for every feed but i use a cold water steriliser (old fashioned milton tank) maybe you could do this if you are worried about the hot water releasing chemicals.

I use the same - it's so easy!
