hi,

how old were you and how did you find out the truth about santa???

i was 7 or 8 when i started to get suspicious, me and my sister (7yrs older than me) would leave a drink and cake etc and a note for santa....... on xmas day they would be gone and we would have a reply to letter. this particular year i commented that "santa" had the same hand writing as our dad....... very quickly my mum shouted that was because santa had used dads pen!!

i accepted it this year BUT the following year they copuldnt convince me.

i'm interested as i have an almost 8yr old and i dont want him to spoil it for his 2 younger brothers.

I really can'y remember tbh
but if I were to guess I would say maybe 10 (I was older)

I have an 8 year old to and i'm hopeing she will believe for another year or 2
it will break my heart the day she find out santa's not real :( xx

I can't remember either actually. I think I knew quite early, maybe by about 6 or so, but I just didn't want to ruin it for myself, so I kept the magic alive by not actively admitting he wasn't real and going along with my moms antics :)

Plus, I got a little brother when I was 7, so the magic was kind of kept alive by him as we all had to still pretend he was real, even though my sister and I definitely knew he was not by then. I was probably still "pretend" believing right up until I had to play Santa for my own children!!!

I was 6 when I knew, but honestly when you're a kid you still want to believe a lot longer! Even when I was 10 part of me hoped the "truth" was wrong!

thanks.

we have a "magical elf" that comes dec 1st until xmas eve, so i'm hoping that will keep my son believing abit longer. i dont think it will be from us he finds out but some of the kids at his school leave alot to be desired and "what they say is the truth" according to son!

I think i was about 9, i already knew the truth deep down but never let my parents know. I remember my mum coming home from shopping and saying to my dad "i bought these boxers for Grahams stocking" not realising that i was in the room, i went "YOU WHAT?!" and she denied she had said anything haha.

i was 10 :) and the youngest my sister and brother found it fun to keep the excitment for me cause they would help set it all up

Santa's not real? ...
I think you've just ruined christmas for me

Nah if he does start asking questions I would just pull him to the side and if he guesses tell him but ask him not to tell the younger kids because he's their older brother and wants to see them happy etc. make him feel like it's a big secret and only he can know, something like that

I was told when I was 11 though probably knew for a year or so before but said nothing, it took the magic away when I was told. Last year when my son was 10 he asked cos the kids in school had said to him so I told him, it broke my heart even though ive 2 tiny lo's still, he was my baby and had become a big boy lol. Made sure he didn't know what any of his presents were so it was still special for him and talked to him about how it needs to be special for the lo's as theyre growing up and have years of still believing. This year Ive asked him for ideas of presents to get the lo's so he feels some of the magic still x

I spent ages winding my sister up that santa wasn't real when I was about 5, then my mum pulled me aside and asked me how I knew. I got very upset because I had just been teasing!
I think I must have picked up somehow that santa wasn't real though, it's a bit of a stretch to think I came up with that all on my own...
