How quickly did your sense of smell go crazy?

Hi all, I'm brand new here, and we're just starting to TTC our first. In fact, I just got my Mirena IUD out 5 days ago. Here's the thing, and I know this sounds crazy, but I think I might have ovulated the day I got it out (CM), and today I feel like I'm smelling everything.

But even if, by some insane miracle, I was ovulating that day and it did fertilize, it would be way too early for heightened sense of smell, right? Also, I've been having light bleeding the past three days, so this is nothing except insanity, right?

Thanks!

hello,
my sense of smell has been heightened since about 5 weeks. I think you are too early for that, but if you are spotting then it may be a sign of implantation! Wait until a couple days before af is due and use a hpt. Good luck :-)

When they removed the IUD, it stop releasing hormones in your body. Now your body is adjusting to being without those hormones and it may take a couple months for the levels to return to normal. Even if you ovulated the day they took it out, the egg would still be floating towards your uterus and you wouldn't feel any different whatsoever. What you are feeling is your hormone levels changing. The light bleeding would be caused by that too. Your body will probably take a little time to get back on it's normal routine.

Hmm, about four weeks in for me. I swear, I could smell food a mile away. I could smell other stuff -- like perfume on people, etc., but I was focused on food. ;) My SO would give me crap. "Do you smell butter?" "Uh, no. But apparently there is some around..." I think it might be too early as well. Hoping the best for you! :hugs:

Oh and I forgot to add, the hormone change could very well be causing your sense of smell to change as well. Changes in estrogen levels usually effect smell and taste.

Thanks for the responses. I figured it was nothing, I just got kind of freaked out when I took out my IUD and then pretty much instantly started getting pregnancy symptoms! Gah! Looking forward to a return to normal, so that I can get knocked up and lose sight of "normal" forever. :)

I got it way before I got my BFP. Got car sickness too like a week before. Couldn't quite understand what is going on since we weren't *really* trying to get pregnant, just in theory (and apparently in practice too :) So I thought it was something I ate or drank or maybe I smoked too much, always had other reasons until I started to have weird period-like cramps (still before BFP) but these were really different and then I knew for sure even before confirmed by a test.
