Its 10 days since my c section ad tomorrow I have to do the dreaded school run,I will have to get buggy and baba on to bus and also my 6 year old and its about a 5 min walk from bus stop then I need to go in to town to pick some bits up and meeting friend for a coffee.
My midwife says that cos I am on heperin jabs(blood thinners) to prevent clots I shouldnt be overdoing it, does this seem a reasonable amount to do??? She said Im at increased risk of haemorage, and said all new mums are straight after birth if you over do it!!!!
so how much is too much do you think? will I be ok if I take it slow?

I think you will be fine. But like you said just take is slow. Congrats on your delivery!

I think you may be pushing it xx

After my first 2 c/s I was out and about within 48hr pushing my pram round but this time it was 3wks before I went anywhere for more than 10mins. I had an awful time.

I would be concerned about having to put the pram down etc especially if you are on medication. Personally I would see if someone else could do all/some of it for you xx

Eek after 10 days I was only just pushing the pram and walking for about 30 mins quite slowly with hubby next to me, let alone doing all that on my own! I'd try and get someone to help you, its surprising ow exhausted you get doing so little. You've just had major surgery don't forget!

After 10 days i was only able to walk for very short periods of times, no way could i do all those things. Not trying to frighten you hun but at about 2 weeks i over did it and started getting a lot of blood, had to go hospital and was told off

Hmm....tis a hrad one as everyone heals at different rates.

Honestly I think 10 days maybe a little bit soon to be doing all of that. Possibly the school run (although buggy on bus with 6year ols help might be ok) will be fine but after this you will feel shattered. I was back on my feet the same night, thought I was super woman and tried to be normal....not good!! Even now almost 4 mths downthe line I get pain in my scar if I overdo it so my advice would be just be careful and dont push yourself too early.

xxx

Yeh everyone does heal at different rates it took me 3/4 months to walk properly again because the pain was so much, but that was a twin pregnancy and emerg c section. Take it slow though, the pain might come later lol xxx

My son was premature and i had an emergency section. He was in SCBU for 10 days. I was in hospital for 2 days. I got up and was walking around/having a shower/ blow drying my hair 24 hours afterwards. Once i was discharged i needed to make the 1 hour journey to the hospital and back everyday. I got on buses/trains/cars/taxi's walked around, all those kinda things from day 3.

You can do it, you just need to make the first move. Soon as you start getting about, the quicker you will heal. You will need to take it slow though.

I know there's no way I could do that 10 days after I had my section. I couldn't walk more than about 30 paces until about 3 weeks after.

If you are going to do it, go very slowly and carefully. I found pushing the pushchair down to get over curbs and stuff impossible for a long time.

I would be careful with the pram but if you feel well you should hopefully be ok. Just make sure you don't pull or strain anything in your stomach when you're getting the pram on and off the bus and onto pavements etc. Definitely take it easy if you feel dizzy or weak or anything - it's a major op, as they kept reminding me! I had to stay in hospital for 6 nights after having Sophie because I was so ill with pre eclampsia but a week after having her, I had to start doing a 120 mile round trip every day to visit her in neonatal. The first day I did that, I felt soooo ill!! Really wobbly and dizzy and I slept most of the way home. I got a lot better over the few days after that though. I would say just do what you feel you are able to do and definitely don't push yourself.

Congratulations on your new baby! xxxx

i rested for 6 days, 5 in hospital 1 at home, then normal routine in house and gentle walks until day 11 then i was out and about and on busses.

just take it slow and steady :) x
