I am posting this in hopes of helping someone who is feeling sick during their pregnancy.

I have not had any morning sickness and I am 7 weeks pregnant, but a couple of days ago, I was swearing off all foods and eating just whatever 'sounded good' ....which was all unhealthy. Processed foods, crackers, eggos, granola bars, breads, bagels. all empty calories with little nutrients.

Today I started my alkaline diet after MUCH research on the topic, saying that a diet that is too acidic actually might cause or make morning sickness worse! It totally makes sense....(google it)

Basically what I've been eating as far as foods go...
-watermelon... A LOT (I read that it can help nausea on the spot bc of the alkaline, also packed with TONS of minerals)
-cucumbers with hummus
-hard boiled eggs
-peanut butter and apple slices
-fruit smoothies with pea protein & vitamin and mineral supplements that I have been taking for a year
-red raspberry tea
-chlorophyll in my water.

Other things are....
-taking two probiotics 3 times daily (to put good bacteria in the stomach)
-a few sips of apple cider vinegar (which is GREAT for you and is known to relieve MS)
-colloidal silver on an empty stomach- helps balance the h. pylori in the stomach (theories say that this is the cause of MS too)
-liquid b12 vitamins twice daily
-putting keifer in my smoothies, a GOOD bacteria that helps balance h. pylori

**** I have done tons of research on this subject and has seemed to help many women, even with excessive sickness. I am not a doctor, just obsessed with natural remedies and I take zero medication for anything unless absolutely necessary. I was determined to find ways to avoid morning sickness.

If you can, SLOWLY cut out all or most acidic foods and you could see a difference in how you feel!!!

SIDE NOTE:
YOU MAY BE DEFICIENT IN MAGNESIUM, B VITAMINS OR HAVE A BAD LIVER THAT IS CAUSING MS! THESE TIPS COULD HELP YOU, OR JUST INCREASING MAGNESIUM AND B VITAMINS!
I REALLY HOPE THIS HELPS SOMEONE!!!!
LET'S ENJOY OUR FIRST TRIMESTER!

Is this your first baby? I am on my second pregnancy and to be truthful this is all great advice, and I'm totally on board with alkaline diet…when I'm not pregnant. The reason being is that after about week 7 or 8 there are only certain foods you can tolerate or even feel like eating…if you are lucky enough to keep anything whatsoever down. I am well aware that certain foods are beneficial in healing the body and helping to keep your flora well balanced. However, when you are in the throes of nausea and vomiting most of the time food, let alone healthy alkaline foods are not on the top of your list. The most important thing is to try to eat what you can, processed or not. Obviously, you don't want to eat unhealthy if you can help it, but don't beat yourself up if you do, or that is all you can tolerate. Also, as far as supplements go, I tried a concoction of B vitamins, magnesium, milk thistle and probiotics with hopes that it would keep the nausea away but to no avail. I am lucky to get a pre natal gummy down. In closing, I love your enthusiasm and really hope it works for you, but most of us are lucky to keep anything down at all.

I would encourage you to try everything I have on the list, if you are skeptical do your own research :) I honestly believe these are good methods, and everything begins in your gut. Like I said a few days ago I was sick of all foods as well. My mother had sick-free pregnancies and ate all fruits and vegetables throughout. I'm not saying it will work for everyone but it's worth a shot to feel better!

This seems like good advice i might try it, the only thing is i cant keep fruit down or anything else for that matter the only thing my stomache can tolerate at the moment is toast, ill try some of this though

If you can't do the foods I would suggest the tea, or chlorophyll water, and definitely the probiotics! And apple cider vinegar. :)

I totally 100 % agree that everything starts with your gut. I am able to keep a few alkaline items in my diet but as I said in my above post In the later weeks of the first trimester foods that are normally quite delicious and tolerable are absolutely intolerable. This is my second pregnancy and with my first I was terribly sick for many weeks. This time around I thought if I took certain homeopathic and dietary measures to prevent the nausea it would help and to no avail. And while I wholeheartedly believe in clean diet, probiotics and supplements. The process of hormonal changes and growth of baby is extremely hard on your body and its normal functions. Therefore, causing you to feel not very much like yourself for a little while. I Would love to hear your progress though through your first trimester as to how it is working out for you. Best of Luck.

I have been studying and eating an alkaline diet for nearly 15 years so I believe whole-heatedly in this method of eating, however, please DO NOT TAKE COLLOIDAL SILVER WHILE PREGNANT!!!

Colloidal silver is an antibiotic and should never be taken more than 7 days in a row to heal an ailment and should never be taken while pregnant.

Not only have I studied this diet for 15 years but I have been working with both my naturopath and osteopath regarding an alkaline diet.

It seems like a lot more research needs to be done on an alkaline diet before being shared. Peanuts are not alkaline therefore neither is peanut butter. Try almond butter instead (the only alkaline nut).

You also need to be very careful with mineral supplements while pregnant.

Although I live by an alkaline diet I realized that it was not very sustainable while pregnant as I was not maintaining enough energy with my first pregnancy so, along with my naturopath we altered what I ate.

Like any "diet" this should first be tried when not pregnant. When you are pregnant you need to eat what your body craves, just try healthier alternatives.

The foods you listed are great while pregnant but there is so much more to this theory.

Please read the PhMiracle as it's an excellent starter book and guide to alkaline foods.

Now I did not have bad morning sickness with my first but I am already battling it with this pregnancy and I am only 4 weeks. I think each pregnancy is just different.

I'm in agreement with this approach since it's so healthy. But I will say that this is our 3rd baby, my 5th pregnancy and no matter how hard I can try to eat healthy, I'm nauseated 24/7 and even taking vitamins is a huge hardship. I'm lucky if I take my prenatal every day right now. I do try to snack on fruits and veggies but that isn't always possible.. If something else sounds good, I will eat it right now to get something in my stomach. I'm really glad those things are working for you, though :)

Don't worry ladies I am under the care of naturopath midwives who have been doing this for 25+ years. They are fertility and pregnancy specialists. Today she told me the main reason some women are so sick is because they are constipated - who knew???

I have been taking Solle Naturals vitamins and minerals for about a year now and there are plenty of healthy Solle babies born all the time:) I am so glad to add to that number!
