I know it's normal for the baby but I don't want to clean walls, floors, towels, my clothes, myself, the baby, etc all the time. I want to change the diaper often because my newborn's skin is sensitive (she got a mild rash because I didn't change her while she was asleep for a few days). Sometimes when I clean her up, she poops again and some of those times, the poop is explosive and sprays everywhere. How can I know she's done doing her business so I can change her? I don't want to wait until she cries because she doesn't complain much about messy diapers and I can't have her soaking in pee or poop for long because she'll get a rash again.
By the way, I do hold tissues over her bum until I can secure the diaper but it doesn't always prevent the mess. What to do?

Cling wrap?

On a serious note loosen the nappy a bit but keep the tabs on so it isn't open

Wiggle it a bit and leave her like that while you prepare the nappy changing stuff.

Or bicycle the legs for a bit and pump them gently to her tummy leave and see

Or rub the tummy in a anti clockwise circle

You can put you ear to her tummy or lower back to listen if there is more coming

My kids poo sessions last about twenty minutes before they are finished and ready for a change and then again five minutes after a new nappy is on

Remember stimulating the anus makes them poop so leave that part for last

It's happened her a couple of time too plus she has a habit of weeing as soon as her nappy is off so I bought some really cheap towels on sale in primark and pop one of those under her on top of the change mat. Then if she make a mess I just wash it or if it's really bad stick if in the bin.

Great for nudie rudie time too I try to give her at least an hour a day naked kicking around on her play gym to get air on her bum and let her kick free :D

Yes we do the towel on the changing station too

You can always change her in the bath lol if you have a shower head

I too use a towel, thing is she might squirm and kick around so the poop can still end up all over the place. How can a tiny baby spray so much poop with so much force anyway? :dohh:
I'll try the bicycle thing tonight and hope it works.

Bicycling the legs is great for down winds too

My baby would fart if I ran my fingers up and down his sides but that made him bring up his legs so the action forced winds out.

Look when my ds poos he poos so much it goes up his back and in his hair and over his male bits to his belly button

Yuck but he is bf and poos once a week

He is three months now

Newborn poop is unpredictable it will get better

Soon you qill be happily chiming

Oooh I see poop in my future as you learn her ques

I just waited 10 mins after she filled her nappy to try and make sure she was done. Didn't work everytime but certainly helped. Lay her on top of the new nappy before removing the old one so it's a case of old one off new on.

As a side note, body suits with envelope necks will also stretch wide enough to pull down the body, so if baby poops up their back you don't have to drag it up over their head.

I would keep a wet diaper on the table, one barely dirtied. Folded in half, stuck partway under his butt, then kind of angled up, it blocked his explosive poppies from spraying beyond the blockade lol. Or I would just loosely cup a diaper around his bottom in the changing table. Those kinds of poop are pretty audible lol.

BTW, my son originally did 1-3 explosive poops at a time, but those ended by two months. They'd all happen in a five to ten minute period. I'd leave him on a changing mat with the above described blockades through that time.

My Lo whines when he is done between 5-10 minutes. He has explosive poop too and we use a towel on changing table, rely on Kleenex and on some days I give him a waist down bath in the sink.
