How were your NICU nurses, honestly?

Some babies are so lucky they be early but no problems and that's brilliant :happydance:
But some just go through so much like my 2 but they are defiantly little fighters then and now there just getting on nicely but have many problems getting easier as they get older I hope

Even managing to get to 36 week with my youngest he was still a late prem and has a couple of problems you never know :nope:

Even a full term baby can go on to have problems even nicu care not just premature babies but I wish them all luck and happiness :hugs:

You're right. You think well if I get to full term I'm home and dry. But working on the nicu I know more than anyone that is just sometimes not the case. Full term babies can be just as sick or even sicker than a preemie. People often mistakenly think it's only prem babies we see, just not true.

A lot of prem or sick babies will have some form of health issue in childhood going into adult life, but some are fine no problems. We help them to live but even we can't say what the issues will be if any.

Mostly it will be respiratory problems or being small .

I do have the best job in the world :flower:

My nurses have all been nice enough, there's some I'm not overly keen on but I can't fault them on anything either. I have one nurse in particular that I love, it's awesome when I arrive in the morning and find out she's looking after Nate.

we weren't in the NICU but we where kept (prisoner) in the hospital in a private room

the midwife team where horrific - some of the bitchiest, nastiest people ive ever had the misfortune to meet and over my dead body will I ever have another child at that hospital (even my mam commented on how the midwife should not be allowed to work) they also refused to help with anything, I was left unconscious in a pool of blood for 5 hours and they said to my OH it wasn't their job to clean me up just to change the bed so will I was still pretty out of it and wired up to drip and monitors he had to try and carry me from the bed to the bathroom and wash me himself (in cold water)

the hospital was filthy (im not even joking) the was blood on the floors and in the bath, my room didnt have a lightbulb so im in labour with a janitor hanging over me, no hot water, bed pans full of urine everywhere (seriously) and the bed pans where never removed (I was there a week and no one touched at least 5 bed pans in the bathroom... seriously you could see urine water mark where they where standing... no one moved them)

my son also has a scar on his neck off one of the midwifes stabbing him with her long nails... which they tried to blame on us (all with short nails) and when ever I challenged them they threatened to take my child from me because I was 'irrational' and 'not accepting what they say and acting like a proper mam' they even tried to say many time (which is now removed from my medical record) that I had post-natal depression - this has been proved completely wrong

I have since met 5 other women who all had the exact same experience there and yet the next city's hospital has never had a bad word said (and supposedly has one of the best NICUs)- next time im going there, its the exact same distance from my house and they cant physically stop us or kick us out and I dont see why we get bad healthcare just because we a slightly the wrong side of the border

the only good thing I can say about the hospital I was in is the doctor/surgical crash team where amazing... I would be dead without them, they where quick and organized and I even met the head of the team later and he was a lovely, sweet, friendly man who apologized for everyone else (without me saying anything)

oh and they also lied about a blood test result... how do you have the results without taking blood??? they talked to me like im an idiot, what they dont know is im a scientist (biomed) so I knew exactly what they said was impossible lies
