My FS had me do an FSH work up on cd3 and scheduled an HSG on cd 10. Today, cd6, I called to tell her I was going to O before then. I do not have regular cycles, but after a year of trying I have a pretty good grasp on what my body is doing ;) anyways, they didn't seem to believe me and said to keep the cd10 appointment, even if it is after o. Sure enough, tonight I got a positive opk.

Has anyone heard of doing an HSG after o? Everything I have read says absolutely do not do it. I am tempted to call back tomorrow and tell her I will be waiting until next cycle if I don't get a BFP this one.

Cd6 is very early to ovulate are you sure you are ovulating?
How long is your normal cycle?
Given the post ovulation phase is fairly consistent at 14 days that gives you a 20 day cycle

If you have o'd, and you do the hsg, it will wash away the egg so zero chance of a BFP. However, as pp said, this does seem very early for o..... Agreed though after this much time you recognise what your body is up to. Are you confirming o any way other than OPKs? You can get false positives on them. At the end of the day it is your body and up to you. If you are totally certain you are going to o before cd 10, postpone the hsg and try to arrange for an earlier cd next time.

After 12 months of TTC, I'm pretty certain after a positive opk that I ovulate the next day. ;) attached is a screen shot of my chart. It plotted o as cd8. I've had another super early o date before, so I knew it was possible. A week after o my fertility specialist is having me do a progesterone check to make sure.

I do not have regular cycles lengths after stopping bcp. Anyways. After much research I did decide to postpone the HSG. Our bd stunk this cycle as I was not anticipating o this early, but I didn't feel right doing it!

To be fair the reason they dont do an HSG is in case you are pregnant. If you had bad luck with BD and what not if it were me i'd have gone ahead and done it, but i totally understand not wanting to take the risk

I had another one done around ovulation, but my husband was gone too, AND i have both tubes blocked, the HSG was to lead to another procedure to unblock my tubes... which it did. Im pretty sure i ovulated Monday or Tuesday (procedure was Tuesday) and my husband didn't come home until Thursday. Now i admit i stopped tracking or doing anything once we found out both my tubes were blocked in June, what was the point when there was zero chance of conception. I have to start tracking again so we can try again here in Nov

Oh wow...this thread was a long time ago! I ended up having the HSG don't the next cycle and they found a polyp which I've since had surgery to remove :)

I hope the surgery was a success and sending lots of sticky baby dust your way!!
