HSG experiences - especially positive outcomes!

Congrats! That's so exciting!

I had an HSG last week, it was more uncomfortable than anything. It did cause mild cramping and spotting. My tubes were clear and I ovulated on the same day as expected. Hoping for a BFP this cycle...

I ov'ed on my usual day as well in the end. Pretty sure I'm 3dpo and swing between thinking 'why would this month be any different - there might be another reason I don't get pg' to 'defo in with a chance following the hsg'. Only time will tell I guess...

Loving these stories with positive outcomes after HSG. Im waiting for my appointment to come through and have been feeling really upset after ttc for 14 months and never having a bfp. Never thought i'd be down the route of fertility tests but here i am.
I was told i would need antibiotics before the HSG, is this normal?

I too go through phases of feeling really upset and hard done by really at not having a bfp in 2.5 years, so I completely get where you're coming from.
The hsg was fine, so I hope your appointment comes through soon. The antibiotics weren't mentioned until I was actually at the appointment and they just gave me a prescription for a 24 hour course (4 tablets I think) just to keep any potential infections at bay after they've had 'foreign bodies' up yer whatsit! I was slightly concerned in case it affected my chances of falling pg, but figured a 24 hour course would do no harm.

I'm going to be scheduling mine here soon...my doctor gave me some antibiotics to take before the procedure. So its normal for them to prescribe them...I'm a little nervous because I have to work afterwards...hope I'm not in to much pain...

For me it wasn't painful, but it was very uncomfortable. I had some cramps during which I deep breathed through, and then when he removed (more 'pulled!') the catheter & speculum at the end I yelped. But afterwards I had little to no pain from what I remember just minor cramps. I was fine to drive & went shopping all afternoon. I took two ibuprofen just because it's what I read to do, and wore a pad for about 2 hours.

But everything looked clear for me, I had to go to a different clinic & the doctor wasn't my usual doctor so he left pretty quickly & didn't explain anything.

I had mine in September, I was told I could have sex straight after, me & OH didn't try last month, but we have tried this month (along with Soy Isos and various other things) (currently in the TWW) so hopefully BFP comes before Clomid next month !!

Good luck with it, I have seen some horror stories online so I was really nervous as my pain threshold is zero - but it was fine. :)

OOH! Do post back here if you get your bfp! Good luck!
Sugarpi - I'd have been fine to work afterwards. I'd booked the afternoon off as I teach and I'd have come back after the afternoon session had started (plus I wasn't sure how I'd feel), so I basically had a duvet afternoon. It was lovely, but not entirely necessary! It does seem pretty variable between people, but hopefully yours will be a 'good' experience.

I had my HSG test this month and am now on CD 30. I did take a test on CD 27, and it was negative :growlmad: I know it was early though. I am just so hopeful that I will finally conceive! My husband and I are trying for over 2 years. We got tested and everything seems to be fine. I hope the HSG test will speed the process up! (by the way, results of HSG test were normal). If I am not pregnant this month I will try the pre-seed lubricant...did anybody have success with this???

Hey girls! interesting reading about hsg testing, thankyou for sharing! is there any difference between a hycosy & hsg or is it the same? i'm booked in to have hycosy where they inject dye through cervix & use ultrasound to view the tubes! My test is on the 15th Nov & i'll be about 2 days away from AF, hope it doesn't come early, of course a bfp will be even better! loving the success stories, keep em coming x

I had my HSG about a week and a half ago. It was very painful but only for about 5 minutes. I ovulated normally following it (according to OPK). I got my test results on Friday and the right tube is clear but the left tube appeared to be blocked but they don't know for sure. Apparently false positives (showing blockage) are not that uncommon b/c the tube could appear to be blocked b/c it has more resistance so the dye goes the other way, or because it cramps up during the procedure. The only way to find out for sure is to have a larascopy(?) surgery - during the surgery they may be able to clear up the problem, if they find one, but not necessarily. I've pretty much decided against the surgery and will move forward with Clomid/IUI if we're not pregnant by January. We've been trying for about 15 months, with a few missed months.

Thanks for all the replies :) and good luck to those waiting for Bfp's this cycle. Its good to talk to people who are at the same stage. I'm a bit worried about the pain but i have to admit i am getting to the stage where i'd go through any amount of pain just to have a baby.
I hope i get my appointment through before we go on honeymoon, would love to have a good 'clear out' before hand and then maybe the holiday theory will work for us, lol! My husband to be hasnt had his tests yet but has got an appointment for when we come back.
Positivehope - i'm definitely going to be using preseed after watching 'The Great Sperm Race' it made me realise how important the female fluids are! You can still watch it on 4od i think.

Hi, I just thought I would drop by and let you all know that I got my BFP !!!

HSG was September, and tried and fell pregnant in October after two and half years TTC!!

Good luck ladies, it's worked a miracle for me xx

Congrats sue!!! :) that's awesome!

I guess I never updated what happened with my hsg...everything went fine..not to bad at all..everything looked normal and clear..so that's good...hope I'm one that gets a bfp soon after an hsg :( still waiting on af to start femera.

This thread is making me feel positive! I'm probably going to schedule mine this month, and I'm almost hoping they clear something out so we get our BFP! We have been trying for 10 months
