HSG Test

Hi Ladies :wave:

Just out of curiosity, those that have had the HSG procedure how long did you have to wait to get your appointment?

I have been phoning up my Hospital every month on the first day of AF for 5 months now and still yet to get an appointment??

I'm beginning to get stressed. I had my first FS appointment in December and had to go for more blood tests etc and was referred for the HSG. I was told the FS would see me in 3-4 months after the first appointment but Ive not heard anything from them so they're obviously waiting for me to have the procedure done!

Sorry for the Rant any advice or stern words would be great now

Oh dear! That is terrible. My OBGYN sent me for an HSG within the same week as I was seen by him. I totally understand where you are coming from though. It's bad enough we wait so long with our cycles, it would help if we could just get some answers.

I was lucky and got seen first cycle when I rang up. I would deffo complain about this. Good luck xx

I have been waiting 3 months and when I rang again and asked were I was on the list I was told it would be another 3 months. Needless to say I'm a bit miffed I think it depends on were you are and which hospital you are going to. Ive had 6 rounds of clomid before they realised I hadn't had hsg so I would have thought they would have put a rush on mine to cover their mess up but never mind

The lady over the phone told me that they ask you to call on the first day of AF to tell u not to have intercourse from af to the HSG test date, she was ready to give appointment for 3rd week. I always thought they do the test only just after AF. One thing u can try is not wait till first day of af to ring them and take an appointment which won't coincide with the af days. U might have to take a break from ttc for a cycle, but if you think that is ok to get HSG done, give it a try

Good morning ladies! I don't know how things work in the UK but here we schedule them through the OBs office. Is that something you can do rather than going through the hospital? ?
My test is this coming Monday. Looking for positive results!!

That is so strange that you were told that because everything I have read and been told is that the HSG should be done between CD7-10. That way it's after AF so they know you aren't pregnant and it won't interfere with ovulation and potentially getting pregnant again. You certainly do not want it done whilst in the 2ww......

Galaxy Girl - I just had one this month which I was lucky enough to get the first month I called although the Dr's office did warn me that it doesn't always happen straight away since they have to be able to book the Dr, the room and equipment etc on the right day of your cycle. Still it is super frustrating that you are having to wait. Perhaps try calling your Dr's office again to speak to them and explain how long you have been waiting and can anything be done.... I am getting very frustrated every time I call I get the same answer. The test has to be done between CD5 and 10 of your cycle.

I'm on holiday next week so I won't be able to temp or POAS so won't know when Ov is so AF will be guesswork next cycle so I won't be able to phone up in advance for it but the following cycle I will and see what happens.

I would just like to know the results of my bloods and urine sample as it could quite possibly explain whats going on and I wouldn't even need the procedure. The FS doesn't look at the results until you are at the appointment so they wouldn't have seen them yet either.
Do I try and get in contact with them??

I also had mine scheduled for the next week. I'm now going for a lap and they scheduled me for in 3 weeks.

I had a later HSG< i consented to one knowing that 1) my DH was out of town on business during my fertile period and 2) it was actually the HSG coupled with tubal opening, so i wouldn't BE pregnant since both tubes were blocked !

IMO guess, call, schedule and get it out of the way. I have regular periods so i was able to guess within a day or so, they accepted that. I also called various hospitals who did the procedure and decided on the closest one, which was not the one with the first opening
