Hi,

We had our first appointment with the infertility nurse and doctor last week. I have to go for a HSG test. At the appointment we were told that this has to be done on day 1 - 10 of cycle.

When i called up to make the appointment due to short staffing and the clinic only being held on two days per week! my scheduled appointment is on day 14. Is this okay to be done on this day?? I am also in a dilema as this also means we can't try at all this month or at least we wont be trying during the right time and will have to wait til next month. I know this is nothing in the scheme of things considering how long we have been trying bu really frustrated about it!

Any advice much appreciated!

Hey, this test should only be done CD 5-10... reason for that is there can NOT be any kind of flow during the test. Not even spotting. Also it's not suppose to be done during ovulation. They shouldn't have scheduled you for day 14. I would call your doctor and ask them what to do because I think this could end up being a not so good situation. The place doing the test should know that. Feel free to PM me. I just had this test done last month so my memory of the rules is still pretty fresh. On a good note this test is suppose to raise your chances of a BFP for the next couple months. Either way please call your doctor and see about all this because it doesn't sound right to me. I'm sure the other ladies here would agree. :hugs:

Thank you for replying. I did think it was strange as when we had the appointment with the fertility Doctor and nurse they said the day had to be 1 - 10. When I booked the lady I spoke to wasn't particularly understanding or helpful!
I will speak to my Doctor tomorrow. My only issue is that the Hospital where I will go told me they are down to one room and only hold the clinics on a Tuesday and Thursday so how can they fit anyone in on these days!
Do they tell you straight away what the x-ray shows?

They should tell you but I did ask as well. There is a screen you can watch the whole test on so I thought that was pretty neat. It also helped me understand what was going on during the test. I asked how things looked and she said from what she could see everything was clear. Also when I was in there she walked me through each step and told me what was going on. At my clinic they told me there was a few different ones. Is there anywhere else you could go to get the test done? I just called around to see which place worked with my insurance and could get me in at the right time. Good luck and keep me posted!
