Hi all.
Would just like to hear some experiences of hsg's.
mines Friday and just want to feel prepared if its going to be bad

Thanks xx

Most women feel mild discomfort but's all.

Ensure you take pain relief beforehand though.

Also, if it is painful, it doesn't mean there is anything wrong. I won't go into details but mine was painful and came back perfect.

The anticipation is often much more worse than the procedure itself.

Thanks that's how I feel. I'm scared but don't know what to expect.
Read some stuff from ppl online in forums saying it was horrific xx

Hi sammy, please try and not worry about your hsg. I had my first one last month and I'll be honest it did hurt when the dye was going in but it was over so quick that it didn't really matter. Everything else was fine. I've heard many different stories from girls saying it hurt a lot or it didn't hurt at all so I think it's down to each individual. Best advice is to stay as relaxed as possible because tensing up cause a bit more discomfort.
Hope this helps a bit :hugs:

Hi Sammy!!

Like everyone says 'every woman is different' some will experience minor discomfort, a bit of pain, or nothing at all. Don't worry!!

My experience, I too read online forums where women told their horrific stories etc. So I was terrified the day of my appointment. BUT during my appointment I felt ZERO pain and it only took a few minutes. The anticipation/waiting was the worst part. I felt kind of stupid for how worried I was.

Take some Ibprophen 1 hour before the test and you should be fine!! Even if it was a bit painful or uncomfortable it does not last long at all. It takes more time the the radiologist to set up than it does to actually perform the test.

Good luck to you!! Try not to worry yourself too much.

Mine was a little painful, because they had some trouble getting the catheter in but it was so quick and once they took it out I really felt fine. I kind of felt fatigued like I needed a nap.

Will they def tell me if they saw anything I'm so worried bloody google makes things worse.
Thanku for all ur comments. I can be such a wuss at times xx

They told me right away that they thought everything looked good. I was able to watch the dye pushed in on the monitor the whole time.

Them telling you anything depends where you are. I'm in Belfast but didn't get told but I know of others that were told in different areas.

Good luck at your hsg tomorrow! i had one in november and it was fine for me, no more uncomfortable than a pap really. They also told me and showed me on the screen that the dye went through and everything looked good. A bit uncomfy but very quick- i ended up taking the day off just for the hell of it really..it was more emotionally draining than anything since it was the first thing hubby and i had done aside from bloodwork so we both took the day to relax haha :) I did take advil though so i would make sure to take that. Best of luck!

Most places will let you watch it on the screen. Pretty cool if you ask me :-)

So if I c the dye moving freely its a good sign? Will I be able to see anything bad.
Thank you all so much for ur input xxxx

Anybody who reads this. Please don't worry like I did. Or read online sites. It was fine I felt no pain it was like a normal smear for. Xxx

Yay! I am so glad to hear that it went ok :-) So I am assuming no blockage? Did you get to watch it on the screen?

Hi. Yes no blockages :) and got to c it. Amazing experience. Very happy. Ultrasound on Tuesday. How's urs going xxx

What are you having the Ultrasound for? To track ovulation? My AF is due on the 25th so we will see. If AF shows up then I will be put on 100mg Clomid and Ultrasound monitoring to track ovulation.

No to check for ..... Erm endometriosis and pcos. But don't quote me on that cos can't remember now. I just want clomid now seems such a long process xx
