i know every baby is different and there will be diff opinions

but i was just wondering what works for your baby if your already a mummy?? or what you will be getting??

i remember reading some where on here some one said huggies is best for a boy or girl and pampers for the other one, but i cant remember which way round!! :dohh:

:flower:

I tried both with my daughter and only Huggies worked for all. I think all children are different though as I have spoken to Moms with both girls and boys who only use Pampers or only use Huggies or even some other brand.

I have bought pampers for when baby is here. I have loads of them so hope they work for him as if not i will have a lot of nappies left over lol

I found huggies for a girl, pampers for a boy but I've heard others say the opposite. As well I've heard some babies get rashes off both brand, it really is just trial and error. Personally I've bought a pack of each to try, there's so many offers on nappies right now it's easy to pick up a few different brands. I'm gonna get a pack of nature baby care 1s to, I liked them for my dd.

hmm i think i will get some of both, i didnt even think of that, how stupid am i haha

i was at asda yeserday and with the baby event on i was like hmm which shall i get, but i could of got both :dohh: xx

i used pampers when riley was young now use pampers when not potty training x

I tried both and ended up being happier with huggies for my son and then pampers for my daughter. Im expecting a girl so might end up with pampers again. The best thing is to try out different ones and see what suits the baby.

Its a case of trial and error and the size and shape of baby.

well I had a nightmare with my newborn son, he was rather skinny and had a really big willy. Especially at night, he would manage to pee up his nappy about 3 times a night so would have to change all clothes and bedding. I tied to position his bits every which way but that didn't make a difference. I eventually found that huggies were a lot better at containing him and a lot softer too (pampers left prints of the lining on his bottom).

If any of you have problems like that with boys, after 2 weeks when they get a little fatter it stops so the snugger the nappy the better its likely to be and I didn't try a smaller preterm nappy so that be worth a shot???

I do think that pampers are better when they get bigger though, once they older than 10 months! hope that helps x

I used huggies with my 1st daughter and found pampers worked for my 2nd daughter. I'd say get both and see what works for your LO :)

I had always believed the saying "Pampers for boy, Huggies for girl", apparently because girls wee downwards and boys wee forwards, and so far as my girls were concerned, they DID leak out the back of their pampers because Huggies have an elasticated back whereas pampers don't (and on my girls at least, the pampers always gaped at the back).
It'd be cool if there were definite rules about why some nappies work for some babies and not for others but it seems there's no rhyme or reason, as my girls are both totally different builds but both faired better in huggies than pampers.
I'm inclined to just buy huggies again for this newborn but this thread has reminded me that it may be better to shop around again and see what works best :flower: xx

Ok so im a first timer and wanted to know what size is best, im gonna buy 1 pack of huggie and 1 of Pampers but what size should i get??

Pampers all the way! Whenever we used Huggies, my LO always seemed to end up with a wierd damp patch on his back - although his nappy didnt leak. It was wierd, like a sweat patch, but not. Also, I dont think they're as flexible and stretchy as Pampers x

To add to my last post - if you live near an Aldi, their nappies are EXCELLENT!! Honestly, they're really good, not like you would expect at all. They are the same as Sainsuburys own nappies - same patterns and everything, but Sainsuburys charge more - still cheaper than Pampers/Huggies though and definately better than Asda's nappies but you might not want to try them until LO is a few months old as things are quite "unpredicatble" when they're teeny :) Theyre really good though (and Im a bit of a snob, but was really inpressed with them when I saw my friend using them)

With us, we ended up going the cloth route. When little guy was born, he had a reaction to the disposables (he has sensitive skin) but with the cloth we've been a-ok.

I tried huggies a few times...what i didnt like was that the absorbent crystals used to stick to poor leo's bum! and go bloody everywhere!!

Pampers were ok for a while...but then i found they weren't keeping him dry through the night (like 6/7 months)

So then went and tried Asda little angels ones and have never looked back!
Will defo be buying the asda angels ones from birth this time round...plus they are always on offer of 3 for £10!Bargain

OOh wanted to add that at the hospital we had pampers newborn size one with us and they were massive on my Leo(they came up to his nipples) as he was very skinny and only 5lb 10oz...my aunt came to the resque with Pampers Micro nappies!

So long as you have one pack newborn, and one pack size 1 (in case it's biiig lol, and if it's not just stick them away for a few weeks til they fit).
There's not many in the standard pack of newborn nappies anyway, like 27 or something, so one pack will only last about five days... and if you've bought one of each brand (H as well as P), that's 10 days... and if you find you're getting on okay with one and not the other, you'll still probably just use the other brand up rather than waste them... and i'm sure in the first week with visitors round and OH being home (sorry, big assumption, as mine probably won't!!) there'll be someone to go out and buy more of the same / some more in next size up etc etc.
Your life for the next few years will be keeping up with the supply and demand of nappy purchasing, sometimes ahead of schedule and super-organised, and sometimes in a mad panic when you're raiding your travel changing bag for the last nappy in the house! But the worst thing you can do is over-stock because it'll be sod's law that will be when your LO will have a major growth spurt :dohh:
Remember, life doesn't stand still when the baby arrives - shops will be open, you or someone can get hold of anything you need nearly 24/7 these days :flower:

Oh yeah! Forgot about those  They were the only pampers I'd rate; Sainsburys were the only other micro nappies i could find but they were stiff and bulky in comparison to the pampers. (My girlies were in micros for ages and even they came up to their armpits when they were in the special care unit! Aww!)

As others have said before me, it depends on the baby. We have 1 little girl already and for us Pampers are brilliant!
