Hey ladies,

Just a bit of advice really. Is it worth putting LO on just one bottle of hungry milk a day? We weaned him onto hungry milk a few weeks back and he started waking in the night (he has slept 12 hours through the night since 11 weeks) really upset and then was having bowel movements. So we put him back onto 1st milk.

He has been on 8oz bottles for weeks now and draining every one. I am trying to hold out til 6 mths to wean him and have been told that he shouldn't really go up to 9 ozs but he is looking for more milk after he takes 8ozs. He's still sleeping through but the poor little fella seems half starved after every feed  He is a big boy, he was 15lbs 15oz at 16 weeks!

Thanks in advance x

how many feeds a day does he have?
personally i dont see wnay benefit from giving one bottle of hungry a day, if they really need hungry milk they need it all the time - i know some others will disagree, and lots give a hungry bottle at night but for me i dont get it - if they wake up needing milk, then they need it

we've recently put LO on hungry milk, she was draining 7oz bottles and then wanting more 2 hours later. Tried upping it to 8oz and she would still only take 7oz and then still want more later on! Feeding every 2 hours was just impossible, so we put her on stage 2 and she has that every bottle. She's going longer between feeds now, and seems more satisfied after feeds so it's working well for us  I know a lot of people don't recommend having it for every feed, but I don't think it would work for us if we didn't. HV also has said it was fine to have it every bottle. My LO is a big girl as well, she was 15lb10 at 14 weeks! :dohh:

I have Anna on Aptamil hungrier for last 2 feeds of the day - it seems to be working so far. She seems to be sleeping better during the night and goes from 11pm til 6/7am before needing fed.

Only thing is.....tub is supposed to be used within 4 wks of opening. If you only use it for 1 feed a day it will probably last you longer than the 4 wks. I worked it out that 2 feeds a day on 5/6oz bottles made the tub last about 25days.:flower:

Suzib76 - He's having 5 feeds a day about every 3 hours. 7am to 7pm.

my lo went onto hungry baby at 4 weeks for every bottle. I did this at the advice of my hv hes a huge baby, on 99th centile for height and weight. The 1st milk was just not enough for him, and the hungry baby didnt do an awful lot either (SMA). He was taking between 8-9 7oz bottles a day at 7 weeks (he weighed 16lb at 8 weeks ). SOmeone suggested switching his milk to C&G as its heavier, and he has settled right down now. He has started sleeping through till 5 in the morning from 7.30 with a dreamfeed, and is only doing 6 feeds a day now xx
