HV told me off!

My LO is taking 4 to 5 ounces 3 hourly without fail, and would take it more often if you offered it. He possibly has had a few bottles he didnt need as he suffers with wind and also had oral thrush so was constantly chewing his hands. He has always been a little greedy guts bless him. He was 7lb 11 when born, 8lb at his first weigh in. He didnt even lose weight after birth, lol. He was 8lb 7 at 2 weeks, and i had him weighed tuesday at almost 4 weeks...He was 10lb 12 :O My health visitor said he is doing really well. Mind you she did just seem to want to get me out of the door.

If your LO is gaining weight to quick, then what the hell would she say about mine, lol!

how cheeky my hv told me to feed him when he wants and let him have as much as he wants! as what he doesnt want he ll just bring back up! x

I think in future I'll just feed her onn demand, when she is being fed you can actually hear the milk hit her stomach and gurgle so it must be totally empty. If I try to hold her off she doesnt just cry but screams and screeches Hate hearing it

my health visitor is brilliant she's so nice and never been nasty, Jack is 4 weeks today and on 5-6 oz's every 4-5 hours and he's gorwing perfectly he was born 7.8 and is now 9.11 and also has reflux x

shocking! when my lo was 7/8 months he was having 32 oz and hes under the 50th centile! ignore her you now wats best for yr baby not her!

That is ridiculous!

The weight gain sounds perfect to me, however 32oz does sound a lot - Anna was only on 22 oz around that age and coming up to 6 months now she still only takes about 26oz max a day.

Carry on feeding on demand- if your baby wasnt hungry they wouldnt take it!

reading these posts is starting to panic me now!! although i think it must even itself out as my hv doesnt seem concerned...my wee boy is just 3 and a half months and was 10lb 3oz when born!!! and already weighs 15lb 7 oz he's taking 210ml each feed every three to four hours taking the last one at 12pm and not getting up for another one till 7.30/8am

try not to worry!

Guidelines really are just that guidelines. Some babies take more, some take less. Hannah was one of those who always took much less than the recommended guidelines. As long as your LO is happy, healthy and gaining weight try not to worry

id defo ignore the hv hun half of them dnt even have children themselfs an they go around givin advice us mums do wht is right for are children if tht means tht they have 5 8oz bottle aday or more thts our children i was told by my old midwife all children are diffrnt wht one chold like another may not an tht they also have groth spurts so they can have loads of bottles one week an slow dwn the nxt week they only advice tht i would reccomend is makin a list of wht lo has over say a 2day period an then maybe changin her to the nxt milk up as the milk she is on my not be givin her a full tummy. i always look on here if i have a problm with my lo as this site is full of mums who have gone threw the same problem as wht we all have xx

defo put a complaint in about her she has not write to spk to ppl like tht thts is totaly worng in my eyes hun xx

your lo doesnt have a watch hun and doesnt know the times for a bottle so if they want a feed,give it to them

and make a complaint about that hv!

My baby was born 3 weeks early and at 2 weeks old my midwife was pushing me to stop winding him during feeds and force him to start taking 4 ounces! I now have wind problems with him and wish I had just stuck to what I was doing.

Tell them to bugger off I will do what I want from now on. I make 4 ounces but he just has as much of it as he wants and he can feed as often as he wants though he has a natural pattern of roughly every 3 and a half hours.

If baby is happy you will be happy at the end of the day.

id ignore her hun. ollie has been having 4oz every 2/3 hours since she was 3/4 weeks and my hv has never told me to cut her feeds down and has only just suggested changing from aptamil 1 to aptamil 2 to see if she will go a bit longer between feeds x

9lb 2oz at 5 weeks old, my daughter weighed 9lb 14oz when she was born and she is now a healthy 10 year old with not a bit of fat on her.

Ignore the HV your doing a brill job.

Im sorry but thats POO! my HV came yesterday or the day b4 cant remeber! lol Any way she told me that baby would tell me when she was hungry and not to worry about over feeding its really hard to overfeed a baby! i can quote that too ! she said they baby was better than me or her at telling me how much and when she wanted to eat!

My LO had 4oz every 4 hours and my HV said that perfect! at the end of the day you now your baby better than any one else!
even if u could overfeed a baby who does love a chubba baby ??

zane was drinking 4oz every 1-2 hours at one point n i was never shouted at, think i would of gone nuts of someone had said that to me.
ur lo sounds like shes doing great

I dont know where these hv's get off sometimes they end up worrying people unecessarily. I thought the 'scheduled feeding' thing was really outdated? Tell her to do some CPD and update her knowledge

what a load of pants, my daughter was on 6 - 7 oz every 3-4 hrs at that age and she is as skinny as a rake at nearly 4. your hv sounds rubbish. do what you think is right x

my mil is a hv and let me tell u she knows f all!
she had ago at my oh for giving zane eggs at a yr old, when she sould of known that he could have them from 6 months! she then got out her stupid rule book n read up on it to only prove my oh was right.

the things shes told me to do with zane are stupid to say the least, i was supprosed some of the things shes said came from a hv let alone a mother

Hey everyone thanks for all the encouragement! I changed lo onto Aptimil stage 2 and she now goes approx 3.5 hours but has now moved up to 6 oz lol

lo is happy and healthy, smiling away at me all day and starting to 'chat' so Im happy and the hv isnt coming back... ever..

ignore stupid HV, 9 outa 10 of them don't have their own children, so don't now what its like. they get all there info from text books!

carry on doing what you are doing, its a good sign he's put weight on so quick.
