Hypothyroidism/Synthroid+Getting Pregnant- How long did it take you?

I am not pregnant, but my question needed answer by those who are so I hope no one minds that I posted this here

I have been on Synthroid for 9 months now. My cycles were very irregular up until the last 3 maybe 4 months. My last and current cycles, I am finally ovulating between cd 14 and 16 and my cycle seems to be steady at 28 days(YAY!!). My question is, is there anyone who had to take Synthroid too and had irregular cycles and how long did it take you to conceive once the meds were working?? I need all the reassurance I can get so please answer if you can. Thankyou and CONGRATS to ALL!!! xxx

p.s i was thinking that maybe now that hormone levels are normal, that would kinda put me in rank with a normal healthy person.. so i should conceive within at least the next 12 months as long as things stay that way... does that sound right?

I have hypothryoid and am on Synthroid also, But it has never effected my periods. I had been on synthroid a few months and got pregnant with my 2nd child, and now it only took me 3 tries this time to get pregnant while still on my synthroid. Hopefully since your cycles are back to normal it will happen sooner than a year for you! Good Luck!

thanks for the reply hun!! the thing is i have hashimoto's with hypothyroidism and we don't know how long i had it before it was diagnosed. In hindsight if i think back, i've had the symptoms for as long as i remember. From what i have learned, the longer you have it and it goes untreated- the worse things get.. which was my case. So it makes sense as to why it took so long of taking synthroid for it to have an effect and straighten out my cycles. It is really nice to hear that without irregular ovulation being a factor, i should be pregnant in no time The only thing i am worried about is that i have the antibodies factor, even though they are in normal range now, i have read lots of stories of women with hashi's going on to have IVF because it wasn't working naturally. I hope that doesn't happen to me!!

i had my thyroid removed on 23rd june due to it being overactive and untreatable (Graves Disease).. after many years of trying my thyroid was jus getting bigger and bigger in me neck.. not the nicest of things to have a goiter haha.. so was time to get it removed...

Started on Levothyroxine, which i would assume is the same as synthyroid... i hadnt had a period for around 2 months due to the surgery and i fell pregnant the first night we tried.. conceived around a month after my surgery... 22nd-26th july.... which i class as lucky as i didnt even know i was ovulating at the time and didnt have a clue when my period would return.. i thought it would take ages cause i had my thyroid removed...

having thyroid problems suck big time.. such a crap thing to deal with.. i hate them!!! lol

if you have trouble with regulating ur periods.. then there is a drug called clomid that regulates ur ovulation times for you... and there is also a special lube called " pre seed " lube, which also helps the sperm swim better ... ive read really good reviews about it..

Am 20 years old I have irregular periods which take 3,4,5 or sometimes even longer. I have recently been told that I have underactive thryiod. I have been trying to concieve for almost 3 years now. I have been reffered to a gynocoligist. My question is was anyone on the same boat as me? Did they have anyone succedd with this kind of problem? How long did it take? What advise would you give to me for a BFP? What should I be discussing or asking the gyno to help me have a better chance. Took 18 months to conceive my first, and my Synthroid levels were adjusted (higher, levels absolutely perfect finally) 3-4 months before conceiving. I also lost a chunk of weight in those 3-4 months with diet and exercise, so it could be either or a combination of the two that made me start ovulating.

1 Cycle for my second child and 3 cycles for my current pregnancy. I am on a pretty low dose of synthroid and my endo tells me that my body reacts extremely well to synthroid. I should mention that we were extremely fertile before I developed thyroid problems after the birth of our first son so it seemed to continue on and I never had problems with a regular period. GL hun!
