Hello

I had my doctors appointment this morning and they are referring me to the infertility clinic

I am really bricking it but I know on the other hand I should be very grateful too.

I need to speak to OH as he needs to have blood and semen sample tests quite soon and not sure how he is going to take to be tested - you know what men are like. He will also need to have his bits checked too :dohh:

Doctor has suggested that I have the CD5 and 21 bloods taken.

I just want to cry but cant because I am at work.

In an ideal world, I did not want to be tested.

Doctor also said that we could still TTC whilst being investigated.

I hope things go ok, by the looks of your profile you have had two losses (really sorry huni) so I personally think your OH sperm will be fine if you have gotten pregnant before.. (so really he shouldnt need to worry) but i know wot you mean re men and worrying when it comes to getting checked out..

Were all here if you need us xx

Hey hun

Will your GP not carry out the initial tests to see if you need referring first?
Try not to worry too much - they could end up ruling out infertility issues and before you know it you could get your :bfp:. Better that things are moving in a positive direction chick :dust:

I will try and get the CD21 tests done this month but obviously missed the CD5 tests.

She did explain what they are all about but I have come back to work in a bit of a haze.

What are the 5 and 21 day tests anyone? xxx

I guess they will do the tests first but she has got the ball rolling as I think it can take up to 3 months to be referred x

 I really hope this is a very short and painless referal hun... I hope they can send you on your way very soon with your baby books....

im sure your OH will understand babe.. i was dreeding melling my OH he needed tests but he did it and yours will be fine because itl help you both to get a baby. dont look at it is a bad thing look at it as a way of getting answers.
xxxxxxxxx

:hugs:

I know how hard this is for you! I hope you are able to get some answers soon!

Hey hunny dont worry at all about the infertility tests as since u have already had 2 losses its not infertility as such but recurrent miscarriage tests which is what i had... also my partner had to have the bloods.. not the semen one because i was managing to get pregnant. They will just check your bloods for lots of different things and look for a cause to why you keep miscarrying (this is where they found that i failed my thrombophelia) look at it as a huge positive babes!! especially it will take your mind of ttc and thats when you fall the easiest. I had stopped ttc cause was told to wait until i got my results and the day i decided to stop and got our puppy i conceived... it was mad because i always ov at the same time and the day i conceived i had ov'd 2 weeks early and the day i finished my bleed! please dont worry hunny, they will be able to treat anything they find xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

hi hun, I am going through this now. I was supposed to referred because I am already diagnosed with PCOS, but my PCT works in the way that I need to have cd1 and 21 bloods done and DH has to have an SA. I was worried about telling him as I know he might be one of those men who can't handle it if there's a problem, but he's ok so far-ish with it. He is going to have the SA done soon, just needs to transfer to my dr and then get an appt at the hospital to get it done.

Then we'll be referred. Don't worry about it, you never know you might conceive while waiting for your appointment and if not then the FS is there to help YOU!

I'm glad you are being referred sweetie, at least it will rule out the obvious and hopefully get you the help you need to stay pregnant next time.

Not sure why they are doing CD5 (FSH levels) and CD21 (Progesterone) as they tend to be for trouble conceiving, not for mc. Although progesterone could tell if your levels there are out of balance (you need progesterone to manitain a pregnancy.

However, its good news they are now going to check you out hunny. It could be something as simple as low-dose aspirin or progesteron that will make all the difference next time.

I'm glad you've taken that first step ... it does seem like a scary road and the tests seem very daunting, but they aren't really anything to worry about. If you have any questions about any of the procedures, I'm sure we'll all be willing to share our experiences with you.

Hi rumpskin, glad to hear you've been referred and good luck with the tests I hope they get you some answers. I've just had a 2nd MC and one chemical and the doc referred me today for more tests. Like you I don't know what to expect but wanted to wish you luck:hugs:

Day 5 - is to check egg reserve (quantity) and also egg quality

Day 21 - is to check progesterone levels - they should be up to prove you ovulate ---------if you have significantly longer than average cycles the 21 test will need to happen later --------basically a minimum of 3 dpo to 7 dpo.

Please ladies add more detail or explain if I didn't make sense.

Best wishes... I am just a step ahead of you .. this week I met with the ferility clinic but i have to wait for my cycle to start to monitor - but I have already done day 21 blood test

sorry I ramble on

This is good hun - it is better that they do some investigations to see if they can help you stay pregnant. They are probably doing what is standard for everyone by starting with cd5 and cd21 tests! :hugs:

It's good that they are getting the ball rolling. I know I found all the tests and all overwhelming, but at the same time...excited as it means something might finally happen. My DH is getting his spermies checked on Wednesday. Poor guy has to hold it in for four days! LOL!

Thanks ladies so very much.

I spoke with OH at length today and I have asked him to have a good think about being tested as it is a big decision for both of us. I have had doubts as I feel it is so soon after having 3 mcs in 18 months and not sure if I am emotionally ready yet.

I know the tests and referral is not going to happen overnight so I will have some time to digest what is going on.

I am not sure if I am strong enough to brush myself off and take this to the next step.

I think I need a break from this madness. My sister is due her baby in the next month and tbh, this has just tipped the scales for me.

On one hand, I am petrified of being prodded and poked. On the other hand, this could be the answers to my one dream that I am so desperate to achieve in my lifetime.

I am not sure if this is going to make any sense to you guys as it doesnt to me.

Rimpkin I am very sorry for your losses and the difficulties that you are facing. I can only imagine what those losses would feel like. I have been ttc for 3 years with no results.

I totally understand what you are saying. Going ahead with the medical means possibly achieving your dream but is almost too hard to face.

I just recently went to my first fertility appt - consultation.
I had anticipate that I might cry, but the doc was so blah and not personal - just wanted physical facts. As I was leaving and checking in with the receptionist is when it hit me that this is my life for the next who knows and that it is so unfair.. this is not how I wanted it... I almost cried...but made it out just in time to sob in my car before driving home. My SIL is expecting too and that does add salt to the wound - even though their success and happiness isn't related to our pain, but rather a difficult reminder.

Thanks Blue. It is reassuring there are so many women (unfortunately) that are going through similar or related experiences which helps people like myself who know absolutely zilch about being tested and what happens. What happens next for you xxx

Hi all,
I know i shudn't b posting in here but me and my oh were refered to the gyno last week because i have pcos, 1 tube and my womb is all to the left. I found this out about 10 years ago when me and my x were ttc. Im really worried about getting the appointment tho as i have had all the test b4 and im scared that they won't be able to offer me any help. The last time i ttc i was on clomid for 18 months (the full time i was married lol) and i got nowhere with it. My oh is aware of the test he will have to do and is fine with that.
Hope every1 is well and we all get our :bfp:
xx
