After far too many years my husband and I have decided to give up the TTC and we are moving on to the NTNP. We are not going to take any more assistance, and just see where it takes us. TTC has taken way too much out of us, and we just cannot do it anymore. No one IRL understands, and people on the other forums I am on think I am ridiculous for continuing to TTC at my age, they keep telling me I am too young, and this is natures way of telling me that etc. I just can't do it any more.

Aww tiki... Its hard work isn't it!! I have my bad days but I got a book called "the secret" by rhonda byrne.. And its really helped me... I'm young too, 21, but I feel like iv done everything I wanted to do before I had children.. I have been on the crazy nights out 4 nights in a row, iv been on lots of holidays, iv been to colllege and uni and have a good career. Just want to settle down with my lovely OH and have a baby!

Iv been NTNP for 4 years... And TTC 2 years. I was pregnant at 17, but that diddnt work out. So its frustrating to know I have been pregnant before but now I'm reallly trying and it isn't happening. It will though!!

How olld are you hunny? Maybe it would be better for you to NTNP for a few months until you feel better about the whole situation, then when u feel better u can start again, re-energized!!!! I wish u lots of luck xxxx

Too young? I am assuming you are in your 20's, so too young seems like a weird thing to say! I am sorry it hasn't worked out for you so far, it's very frustrating and you have to do what's best for your sanity! Good luck with your next step

:hugs: GL hun, you never know, being relaxed about it might help. I've been on clomid and tamoxifen. Took a month break while we moved house and got pregnant! If anyone told me to relax and it would happen I felt like slapping them but now I'm thinking there is truth behind it x

I will be 23 in the first week of November. I do not feel like I am going to miss out either. I have been married 3.5 years, I have a career, an education, and live feely. I am ready to be tied down by a baby.

I have been NTNP and TTC for more than 4 years. It has been on and off a mix of each. I started on Clomid last year and it didn't work, I still did not ovulate.

I didn't stress about it until a few years in. We just went with it for a while and didn't get pregnant, so I do not have a lot of faith in the theory.

I have just posted a thread on LTTTC... An explanation for the unexplained ladies... Have a read hun xxxx

Dear Tiki
Gosh I understand you! This infertility race really drives me mad.
I wish you all the best and that hopefully when you least expect it you will suddenly be expecting
Best wishes
Amber

My infertility is due to PCOS and hypothyroid. It is explained just not managable at this point in time.

I noticed you have PCOS as it says in your siggi, the website that is in the thread I mentioned is www.thefertilesoul.com has information that u may not no regarding PCOS and other reproductive problems, I should have been a little clearer!!! Sorry hunny!! Xxxx

Here's a small piece of it, I hope I don't come across as being a "I think I know it all" lol.. As I don't! At all!.. I'd just llike to show a little support as it always makes me feel good when I receive it! :-) x

Western doctors often prescribe drugs like Clomiphene (Clomid), which is designed to induce ovulation, for women with PCOS. If they don't respond to Clomid, hCG may be added to release the eggs, and if that is not successful, the treatment may proceed to gonadotropin injections. If these drugs fail, IVF and other assisted reproductive techniques usually are recommended.

However, most women with PCOS don't respond well to Clomid or other hormonal manipulation because it does not address the health of the egg and the state of the ovary's endocrine balance over the previous three months or more of development. Follicle development within the ovary is a process that takes many months, and eggs are meant to develop in an estrogen- and progesterone-rich environment, not in an androgenic setting. Thus, even if a woman's body is forced to ovulate using ovulation-stimulating drugs, the quality of her eggs may be poor and pretty much ensure that the outcome of the procedure will not be successful.

Other treatments for PCOS focus on eliminating follicular cysts surgically and balancing hormone levels using drugs and/or supplements. If a woman with PCOS has elevated DHEA levels, her doctor may recommend Dexamethasone, an oral steroid. However, long-term use of this drug can cause bone changes in the hip joints. Drugs like Glucophage or Actose are often prescribed to control insulin and blood sugar levels.

Those are all things with my doctor previously. He has given me so much information it took me a month to go over it. He said my case is severe, and surgical removal of the cysts is not an option.

Well I'm no expert hunny but I do wish u all the best on your journey..... X

Tiki,

What some people fail to realize on those other forums is that your biological time clock can start ticking like mad at any age. At least your married and established in the real world.

Are you on Metformin or anything similar to try to regulate your period?

It's your own personal choice and you just need to do what's best for you. You're not giving up on what you want, just trying to take the stress out of it and that's a very hard thing to do. Although you are young, I advise seeing where NTNP takes you for x amount of years. Have yourself limit, then maybe jump back on the TTC bandwagon.

Good luck, and congrats on moving on!

My doctor was going to have me come back in this week to change meds. He didn't put me on Metformin and avoided the subject when I tried to ask for it.

Mmm I would be switching doctors then and finding one that will put you on it. When it comes to TTC this is serious business, and you want to be listened to!!

Hi Tiki. I too have PCOS and dh and I have been mostly NTNP for the last 9 years (with a few sprinklings of actively ttc). It definitely kept my sanity, but now that I'm closing in on 35, I feel like I should have been a little more active in the past as now I have to deal with the age factor. I wish you the best and definitely think that taking a break is beneficial, but don't let your age creep up on you and wish you had done more in the past.

:hugs:

He is the only doctor in town I would go to. The rest accept medicaid and are too swarmed with patients. The only other one that didn't take medicaid, didn't want to help me because of my age. He is the best Dr in the area, and all doctors, and doctors wives go to him, so I definetly trust him. He just had other plans, and I am not going to get my self discharged for being pushy.

Good luck Tiki. I think breaks really help sometimes-- we've taken several. I have pcos too, but I also have bad endo.

I've found a couple of things that help with the pcos symptoms-- not necessarily with the ttcing-- hot epsom salts sitz baths are supposed to be really good for helping stimulate the ovaries. I don't know if they do, but they are very relaxing and help with cramps as the magnesium works as a muscle relaxant. And there are a lot of studies showing that spearmint (not peppermint) tea on a regular basis helps lower androgen levels. (In both men & women, so it's not for dh!) This helps with several pcos symptoms.

I think you just have to trust yourself, and remember that taking a break doesn't mean that it will never happen, so don't get down!
