I don't think my french toast was cooked all the way through. What would you do?

Help! I ordered french toast for breakfast without thinking about the fact that it was made with eggs. It was a delicious! But as I was eating it I noticed some parts of it were still soft, as though it hadn't been cooked all the way through. I can't believe I didnt think about it!:dohh: Have I put myself and baby at risk for listeria? Do you think I should call a midwife or hotline?

No you'll be fine. Chances of food poisoning from slightly undercooked eggs is very rare.

In the UK runny eggs are perfectly fine for pregnant women.

They can't do anything if you call but say watch for symptoms which I very much doubt you'll get.

Thank you for putting my mind at ease. I'll be so relieved when baby is here, and healthy, and I can stop panicking nearly every time I eat something!

I would do... nothing! Lol :). I'm sure you and baby will be fine.

Youll be fine, its more likely that the undercooked part was just bread because the egg layer is so thin that it would have cooked it to the safety point in seconds.
Its only really raw parts you have to watch out for and that only really happens with thicker things like omlets or whole eggs.

I'm sure you are fine. I like my yolk runny and I admit to have indulging on 4 occasions :/.. also had lunchmeat a few times too and am always drinking milk shakes!

Actually, in the UK runny eggs are on the no list, but I don't believe there is a big risk factor.

In the US runny eggs are off limits. Scrambled eggs are the only kind I've eaten I'm too scared to try runny eggs and risking my baby's health or something happening. But that's just me.

But I'm sure your fine I wouldn't worry.

Iv eaten dippy eggs and raw cake batter (naughty mummy!) This pregnancy you will be fine x

I visited the local cafe last week and ordered a brekkie. The waiter came over to check would I like a hard egg? Errmmmmm, no thanks runny is fine.

5 mins later, the chef comes over and asks am I sure I'd like a runny egg! God dammit just give me my breakfast!!!

I had this at work a few weeks back.
I was taking a steak order for a pregnant customer for medium rare (steak doesnt have to be well done, thats a huge miss hype) I love mine medium rare as well.
One of the other waitresses came over and started banging on about was she sure and she really should have it well done.
It resulted in 2 very large pregnant women glaring at her and my mouthing piss off :)

A steak has got to be medium or its not worth eating! Well done steak? Blurrrgghhhh!

Even before I got pregnant I couldn't eat steak unless it was well done. Anything red or pink just grosses me out. My cow has to be completely dead. Lol I am just overly cautious on things since this is my first pregnancy if they say no I don't touch it.

I can't wait till I can have runny eggs again though!

Raw or undercooked meat

Cook all meat and poultry thoroughly so it is steaming hot and there is no trace of pink or blood. Take particular care with poultry, pork, sausages and minced meat, including burgers.
Avoid rare meat. The Department of Health previously advised that it was fine to eat whole cuts of beef and lamb rare, as long as the outside had been properly cooked. As a precaution, this advice has now been removed while a food safety committee (The Advisory Committee on the Microbiological Safety of Food) looks into the issue of toxoplasmosis.
Toxoplasmosis is an infection caused by a parasite that can be found in meat, soil, cat faeces and untreated water. If you are pregnant the infection can damage your baby, but it's important to remember that toxoplasmosis in pregnancy is very rare.
If you feel you may have been at risk, discuss it with your GP, midwife or obstetrician. If you are infected while you're pregnant, treatment for toxoplasmosis is available. Treatment can reduce the risk of the baby becoming infected. Where the baby is infected, treatment may reduce the risk of damage.
Wash all surfaces and utensils thoroughly after preparing raw meat. It's also important to remember to wash and dry your hands after touching or handling raw meat. This will help to avoid the spread of harmful bugs such as salmonella, campylobacter and E.coli 0157 that can cause food poisoning.

That is from the NHS website. Although when I got BFP this time it was different  and then recently changed.

I had a medium rare steak a few weeks ago.

And also runny eggs are FINE if they are lion stamped in UK.

I am aware they are on a few NHS Trust 'no list' but unfortunately it's a very big misconception.

In the UK, eggs are screened before reaching the supermarkets meaning the risk of any poisoning is very very rare so having them runny/soft/hard is perfectly fine.

MW/Doctors 'lists' don't get updated, they get added to making them as long as your arm and widely inaccurate.

I know that I know more about it than my MW/Doc given that I've obtained a degree in Food Science and spent 4 years studying it and trust me the list is mostly scaremongering BS.

The ONLY food to be avoided due to severe safety risks (and even this is only really essential in 1st tri).....Liver. Other than that, bin the 'banned' list and enjoy a varied balanced diet of whatever your body is used to.

Liver is the only thing I haven't eaten this pregnancy, and last to come to think of it :haha:
