Kasper- or the Polish spelling possible Kacper.

I absolutely love this name! But everyone I mention it to laughs or says 'you won't really, would you?' because of the American cartoon Caspar the ghost from decades ago.

I've stopped telling people but am really curious for some more feedback here. What do you think of Kasper?? Would I be cursed with rude comments from adults? (I honestly doubt that any kids will have any clue who Caspar the ghost is)

thanks so much :)

I love the name, but prefer the Kasper spelling. If it helps hardly anyone remembers Casper the friendly ghost and there are alot worse things you could name a baby than that (like Blue Ivy, North West, Hashtag). I find Kasper cute as heck. My friend named her baby Kasper but spelt Kaspar. If someone laughs, or giggles just remember there are people naming babies after Disney movie characters (Elsa for example) and when someone says "you wont really, would you?" Look them in the face and say yep.

Your baby, your baby's name, so if you like it go for it. I find it cute :)

I love this name! And I wouldn't think of the cartoon at all if I heard it.

I love it - my friend has this name and i never really think of that

I don't like it, I completely think of the ghost. I'd never be rude to a child though! I go on the theory would I or my dh want to be called it, and he looked at me like I was crazy, but that's us and really it's only your opinion that matters :)

I love Kaspar or Kasper. Unfortunately here in America, I think most people think of the ghost. Still, he's a friendly ghost and just a silly cartoon, so that's no reason not to name your baby that if you like the name!

I wanted to call our son, due soon, Casper but DH has completely forbidden it! Gutted!
Love the name myself! X

I do think of the ghost, but I like the name Casper as well as the ghost LOL. There could be worse associations. =) I knew a little boy named Casper.

I like it but I prefer the spelling Casper.

I don't think most kids are going to know who the ghost is, and even if they did, I'm not sure that's a terrible thing. It's a cute show and he's adorable!

im not keen but its your baby so go for the name you love. people will stop being rude when he is born xx

I think of the ghost as well but still love the name!!

I really like Casper. I do think "...the friendly ghost", but I would still use it (and it is on my list for this LO) because most names have some connection for people and as far as connections go, a funny little ghost isn't bad!

I love it! I haven't told people our name- Felix- for fear of similar associations and negative reactions. Just go for the name you love. You'll never please everyone.

I certainly associate the name with Casper the Friendly Ghost. To me it would be equivalent to naming a baby Elmo or Barney. All 3 are actual names, and are associated with "cute characters" - but none of them make great name options. That's just my opinion, tho. If a friend or family member suggested this name - I would probably state my honest opinion but only before the baby was born. After the baby was given the name, I would never criticize it. I think *most* ppl are polite enough to keep their opinions to themselves after the baby has been named.

Let them say what they want! My daughter is named Madeline - and when we first thought of it and mentioned it to people most said - ooh no, like Madeleine McCann, I wouldn't use that. So we just stopped saying it - and now nobody would ever think like that. She is just our Madeline, and it's a beautiful name and nobody can tell me otherwise. I know everyone will hate our name choices (or list - not fully decided yet) this time so I'm just not saying anything. If you choose Kasper, which incidentally I think is a great name, nobody will question it when he's here. They will think of your Kasper and not the friendly ghost.

Kasper is not my style but you should defo use it. Just say you dont know what name you are choosing. We nearly named our daughter Minnie and everyone said 'mouse' when they heard it lol bit turns out the whole family actually calls her Minnie now as a nickname!
