Lol. She does come across as lovely tbh but somethings just rile (sp) me up. I felt dead bad re the wedding cause stopped my dad from being able to give me away which he respected our wishes but he cried when he found out she had turned up! Then the day she flew back home she went and showed my dad the DVD!!!!!!! GRRRRRRRRRRRRR

This sounds very much like how I feel about my MIL. I just don't want her around at all. I talked to my mom about it and how I could handle it and she just told me that what you want goes no matter what. In the end this is yours and hubby's baby and if you all don't want a whole lot of people holding or around you don't have to. Just need to put your foot down and voice your opinion. What is really funny about it is that I stay very quiet around my MIL cause I know that if I open my mouth around her then all hell will break loose. Well amazingly from me not talking much around her she has gotten the point that I don't like her much and really don't want her around or her advice, so she has actually backed off a little bit. Might be worth a shot for you to try right now. And talk to you husband about how you are feeling and your worries so that he can understand and help take care of the issues. Hope things get better for you, and never forget it is your baby so what you want goes.

Thanks! she suggested we go abroad because her and fil divorced and things arent good and me n hubby jst wanted a stress free day. I had no nerves on the day and was so happy then we walk down to get married and her and her partner come out from behind a wall wiv video camera! Tgey flew out there the day before us and got hold of our wedding planner who arranged fir them to be our suorise witnesses behind our back! Even now when i explain it it jst seems unbelieveable! Xx

You know that's her controlling the situation! Especially that crap with your dad and the DVD. That's low. My MIL will always show up unannounced and that's her way of controlling things. She knows that sometimes we may be busy and say that today won't work, so she just comes...basically saying she doesn't respect our time, our decisions etc...But showing up unannounced abroad...at a wedding. Yikes!! Did you guys say anything to her?

No I was in such shock I just started giggling and I thought if we say something it will wreck our wedding (which was spoilt anyway) so I just kept quiet but inside I was crying. I cant remember my vows because I was in shock. Hubby was not happy either. We then got whisked off for photos and they went back to our hotel and waited for us. When we got back they were buying us some raspberry champagne or something and I just kept knocking it back. The hotel were putting on a candlelit meal for me and hubby and MIL and her partner asked if they could come to it with us but we had to say no! It was our first one as a married couple!! What made it even worse is as they were our 'suprise' witnesses they were on our wedding certificate and the next morning I realised my maiden name had a letter missed out. I wasnt fussed but wedding planner said it needed to be changed so MIL had to come back to our resort and we had to sign a new certificate which also kinda made the wedding day one feel fake!!! Our photos are amazing (the ones with MIL and partner we havent showed anyone) but the ones where me and hubby got whisked off were lovely but then it was back ro reality when we had to go back to the hotel!! The rest of the holiday we tried to enjoy but I just kept breaking down in tears and we were dreading coming home.
