Can anyone find a meaning for the name Mirren! We're gonna use it anyway as we love it, but just would be nice to know the meaning. I think some people found it as a male name meaning patron saint of Football or something weird! but as a girls name what does it mean? (all you get when you google it is stuff about Helen Mirren!

Our bubs full name will be Mirren Jessica Eve!

Yes there was a question about this somewhere i remember replying about it lol My uncles mrs middle name is miranda, but she gets mirren , mirren is used as a shortened version for that. So if you can't find a meaning to mirren, try finding the meaning of miranda hun x ( miranda can be spelt diff too so check spellings ) HTH x

I just had a look around - St Mirin or Mirren was an Irish monk and missionary who founded Paisley Abbey in Scotland link.

On a baby name site, I found that Miren, which is an alternate spelling, has two origins and meanings - the Basque meaning is "one who is loved" and the Hebrew meaning is "bitter".

Many female names are derived from male names and have the same meaning. e.g Nicola/Nicole has same meaning as Nicholas.
As for Mirren, according to my name dictionary Miren is another form of Mary. And Miriam apparently is also derived from Mary.
