All my symptoms pointed to SPD, I have pain in my groin, pelvic region, lower abdomen, I find it difficult to get out of bed, I can't keep my legs wide open it hurt so bad. I only realise this could be SPD when I search my symptoms on google, I can't remember any of this with my other pregnancies. My job is not helping at all, it involve alot of walking up & down to attend to the customers. Anyone else in this situation? Or anyone have any advice on how to improve my situation, your help will be appreciated.

this is mt third pregnancy and the first time i have had spd. try keep ur legs together dont have weight favouring one leg over other when standing balance it out. try not to squat the physio i saw told me when i bend down to do the 'golfers bend' like how golfers hold onto their club and swing one leg back when bending down. dont carry anything to heavy if you bave to carry something make sure it balanced in front of u not on yohr hip/side. sleep with pillow between legs and when rolling over squeeze the pillow as u roll and roll ur arm/shoulder over first makes it easier for hips to follow. hope that all makes sense i on my phone n could have few spelling mistakes

I had the same thing over night last night had horrible groin pain when i opened my legs even slightly.. i was terrified i would have to finish working early but today at work i was ok. My job involves alot of walking and I'm wondering if that's helping? I have alot of lower back/hip pain i thought was sciatica but now wondering if it's spd !!

I have SPD. The advice so far is good. Also if you see your doctor they will be able to refer you for physio and if required some stronger pain killers. That said I actually find paracetamol just as effective as the codine that is prescribed. Unfortunately my doctor told me that only when I've had the baby will things get better, so try to slow down and do less. Your job sounds very active so it may be worth seeing your doctor sooner rather than later as they will be able to sign you off if they think it will be in your best interest. Have you spoken with work about this?

No I have'nt speak to them yet, I actually left work view minute ago due to pain that is unbearable, I can't get sign off work cos I am on trial at work, my contract is due to be renewed soon. I am going to the hospital now.

i second the slowing down part my physio even told me i had to tkae things slower. i work retail also and have had to drop my hrs, i am suppose to start my holidays in just over 2 weeks but the last shift i did on saturday i could barely walk when i got home. am not looking forward to going to work 2moro might see if doc will sign me off

I just finish with the midwife who refer me to the physio and advice me to get pregnancy band from mother care, and send me home with no pain killer cos I am only 29 weeks and they don't what to prescribe any strong medication for me. I hope I feel better after I had some rest.

That's just it, slowing down has been key for me. At first I carried on through the pain under the impression it would get better but it just doesn't. I was really grateful at my doctors honesty when she said "you're going to have a very miserable couple of months", it wasn't good news but it was at least an acknowledgement of the pain I'm in.

In extreme cases of SPD people can be given crutches or a wheel chair. I was also reading yesterday that if you have SPD the midwives must be aware during labour. If you end up with an epidural they have to be very careful about how your legs are positioned because you can't feel anything so you can't feel any damage being done as they move you. I had no idea about this but I'm glad I read it.

Good luck and remember the most important thing is the health of you and your little one. Don't let your work cause you any unnecessary pain.

I had SPD towards the end of my pregnancy. I just took it really slow and easy and figured out what eased the pain. We're all different, so I can't offer many different suggestions because the previous posters suggested the main ones. But take care of yourself!

Thanks flamingpanda, I appreciate the info about the labour & epidural. I am in bed now and I have inform work that I would be in tomorrow. Hope thinks get better for us soon.
