my happy little girl is getting miserable ive been pumping every 2 hrs for 5 days n its not upped my supply atall the only time we get a good feed is first in the morning i think ive got to give up i really dont want to but i cant see her unhappy

Aww I'm so sorry you're having such a rough time of it. Have you tried supplements, like Fenugreek to help increase supply in combination with the pumping? And really if you do move on to formula, don't feel guilty! You did all you could and now you need to do whatever it takes to make your baby happy - that is the sign of a great mom! You have done a superb job and have given your baby a terrific start! :hugs:

exactly. You've done everything you can, do NOT feel guilty if you have to supplement to keep your LO satisfied. You've been amazing, pumping for 5 days! Most would have given up long ago. You've done a fabulous job.

even if you formula feed too, your LO is still getting lots of magic milk too! I do both xx

after my last post things maybe getting better day 6 pumping n my milk finally started coming back n last night n today we had some really good feeds very frequent so still not enough but shes feeding so much better shes only had one bottle today my let down has improved too so shes getting milk sooo much quicker wich was a big part of the problem ive just fed her now n i can feel the achey/tingley feeling i used to before so that has to be good what now? do i carry on pumping or let her do the work?

Even if you have to supplement, if your baby will latch on you don't have to give up bf! Just make sure to BF first and give the supplement after rather than instead if you can.

I'd carry on pumping after feeds and just realize it takes close to a week for you to see the effects. Everyone is different.

WOOO HOOO!!! Well done you!!! Upping supply isn't easy after the first few weeks. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

Weaning off supplements is a bit nerve wracking for any mum. There comes a point when it's time to simply stop supplementing. It's a good idea at this point to keep a diaper diary to check that the amount coming "out" (which is a good guide to what goes "in") doesn't dip.

Have you looked at MOBI? It's the best guide I know for low-supply mums. https://www.mobimotherhood.org/MM/default.aspx

well done hunni its great you seeing some results now from all your hard work

Keep at it...my baby fed ALL the time, like all day long, for the first 6 weeks. It's what they do, they are growing and developing. It will get easier. Try to stick with it for 6-8 weeks and see if things get better. After the initial growth spurts it should get easier for you. The more you let your baby feed, the more milk your body will make.
