I was told by my OB, multiple times, that I have to have a C-section for my second child, unless I wait 24 months before having another child.
He also said that a VBAC is up for debate with some OBs at 18 months between births. He said, under that, it's too risky.
What does that mean? Is it up for discussion with him? Should I ask to be referred to a different OB? What if it's agreed with my OB and I that I can have a vaginal birth, but a different OB is at the hospital the day I go into labour. Can they make me have a C-section? Will they send me home so they are not liable? How does that work?
My second child is due to arrive 19 months after my son and I DO NOT WANT ANOTHER C-SECTION (unless, of course, there are complications)! Also, I do not want a midwife or a home birth.
Where do I start? Do I start calling OB offices before my first prenatal appointment with my doctor? I doubt my doctor will know which OB will help me and which won't. I'm not sure I can switch OBs, after my doctor refers me to one. Is my only option, a home birth with a midwife?
Anyone have an info. or experiences they can share that might help me?
I live in Ontario, Canada.
Thanks!
