after you dip the IC strip in your urine, how long does it take for a positive result to show? has anyone ever noticed that it takes awhile for their test line to darken?

definitely hun!! it says to read after 10 minutes for best results on mine

thanks ness! do you think sometimes it takes longer to get dark, with me, I am getting a faint line but it takes about 20 minutes or more for it to show. would you think that is an invalid result if its showing after so long, or is this normal?

The instructions on mine say to wait 5 minutes for the results. The control line will always be dark, but the test line won't. If the test lines in only faint, that is a negative result, so you aren't going to OV yet. Keep doing them daily, and when the test line gets dark, that's a positive result.

thanks for the reply. I am just wondering bcause I have been testing every day for a while now with absolutely no test line, and just today I noticed finally a slightly faint line, which I realize is a negative but makes me think possibly OV is approaching.

If you didn't have a test line at all before, and you have a faint one now, I would think maybe OV is approaching too! Do you test only once a day? I test twice (I'm addicted to the darn things!), once mid-morning and once mid-afternoon. That way I'm sure to see when it's coming. Haha You know, so I can make the necessary arrangements.

yes I test twice a day too! I have to, otherwise I would sit there panicking and worrying that I Was going to miss my surge. I still panick though, regardless! I felt that OV was approaching yesterday because I noticed my CM changing to more fertile. Then today I noticed the faint lines (I have tested 3 times today already). they are really faint though so I wonder when OV is going to hit. I wonder if I missed my surge already even though I tested! I am a worry wart.

Oh you probably didn't miss the surge. If you're testing twice a day you should catch it. Actually, my OPKs are usually positive for 2 or 2 1/2 days.

that is a relief to hear. I second guess myself so much. thanks!

I test twice a day too - I test around 3pm and 7pm. You should aim to test around the same time of day and hold in your urine for 4 hours trying not to drink too much before testing as it could dilute the results. This could be the reason for your faint lines.

Also with opk's dont test in the morning as LH is produced throughout the day and morning urine wouldn't show an LH surge.

If you've started getting faint lines I would think the surge is on it's way

I usually test then leave it for 10 minutes (the internet cheapies I use says results can be read in 5 minutes but it may take up to 10 minutes to confirm the result)

xx

When I was ttc my son, I didn't know how to use opks properly. I testing with fmu, as soon as it turned positive we BD once & I fell pregnant, just goes to show everyones body is different. I got a positive this morning on cd 11, which is VERY strange as it's very early & i'm not even getting EWCM yet. I'm gona hold for 4 hours & try with a CB digital
