Hi,

I am pretty clueless about this and need help.

I have loads of questions like:
When to wean?
What is baby led weaning?
What to give?
How much?

etc etc etc....

Can anyone help!? Please!?

Hey :flower:

I started weaning early think Morgan was around 14/15 weeks. 6 months is the recomended age or 17 weeks at the earliest. We started with a bit of baby rice. Make it quite runny to start off with and only give a few teaspoonful's. xx

When to wean?
The guidelines are 6 months but the earliest is 4 months (if it's recomended by Dr due to several reasons like feeding too little/too much, reflux, intolerance, baby is ready for early weaning, etc.)

What is baby led weaning?
When LO feeds himself from what you'r eating without puree/mashes/baby food (there is a sticky thread about TW & BLW with lots of info about the 2 methods)

What to give?
If you'r weaning before 6 months you can only give baby rice, fruit & veggie puree. At 6+ months you can give him anything except honey, shellfish, nuts & cow milk as a drink.

How much?
It really depends on your LO, when you started weaning & the weaning method you'r using xx

will keep an eye on this thread as i have been writing down all the questions u just asked. may i add in another question, is it ok to give jars of food for the first few weeks so i know what she likes and dislikes. i dont want to cook/make alot of portions only to find she hates them and i have to dump them

Hi,

I am pretty clueless about this and need help.

I have loads of questions like:
When to wean? If you wanna try traditional weaning start probably around 4 months, if you wanna do baby led weaning around 6 months
What is baby led weaning? Baby led weaning is more finger foods than purees if you do give purees or cereal/porridge than you give it to them on a preloaded spoon and let them feed themselves and let them stop when they have had enough.
What to give? We do traditional weaning using purees. We have given basic things not combined ingredients till older. Things like green beans, peas, carrots, squash, sweet potato, banana, apples, pears, etc.
How much? Start out slow. Most people start out with a few Tablespoons. And then increase it slowly.

Can anyone help!? Please!?

^The bold is my answers!
I started TW wih Liam at 4 months. He is now on 3 meals a day, and he can eat a whole stage 2 jar. He eats about 1/4 of a cup of cereal for breakfast. My baby eats a lot of solids and consumes more than recommended for milk. This is normal. But your LO should not start dropping milk feeds until after 6 months and on 3 meals a day. Hope this helped!

I started at week 20 with baby rice then I started introducing jars as I wasnt confident enough to prepare baby food. I tried homemade carrot & sweet potato puree but Omar threw up after the 1st taste. If u want to start with jars, start with veggie at 1st & dont buy alot. Mine didnt like any jars except some fruit organix pots & baby custard. Anyway, early weaning didnt work for us as he hated all baby food & we had to stop as he wasnt eating & he started to drop his milk feeds to 10 oz per day. I dont think he was ready. xx
