Hi

I'm not sure but I think that I read somewhere that if you are induced this means you are more likely to have a probelematic / long labour and end up having an emergency C Section. I may be wrong, so I'd just like to know people's experiences please.

I am worried about giving birth naturally, but don't fancy the long recovery of a C Section but if I am more likely going to end up having an emergency section then I'd rather just go for that an elective C Section.

Stupidly worried already at 20 weeks so trying to get as much info together to help me decide.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Rosie, I am type 1 Diabetic. I was induced for my DD on a Wednesday and after 4 days of contractions and then 3.5 hours of hard pushing..she was born on Saturday morning and I ended up having an emergency c-section. If I could do it over again I would have asked to be left a little longer to see if nature would have taken its course. :hugs:

I had gd with my first and was induced at 38 weeks. I had my son vaginally 6 hours after they started the induction. Everything went perfect.

Diagnosed with gd at about 32 weeks and controlled by diet. I was induced with my first at 39+6 and 40 hrs later had an emergency section but because if failure to progress not because of any complications.

Diagnosed with gd at 16 weeks, needed metformin and insulin and had elective section at 38 weeks because of the potential problems of placental degradation.

Hope that helps.

I had GD with my son too, was induced on a sunday midday and all was going well. They took me down monday morning and broke my waters but baby's cord came down and wouldn't go back up so ended in EMCS. I've been dianosed again with GD this time at 16 weeks and have been offered elective c-section but turned it down. They won't induce me because of previous c-section but have offered to break my waters at 38 weeks if my cervix is favourable :happydance:

I had GD and was induced at 39 weeks and had a 6 hr labor and have birth vaginally.
