which is betteR? I know theyre both reasonable prices, But whats better? I just found a bedroom set, wardrobe drawers and bedside table for 130 on argos... i think ikea would be more? but whats gonna last longer?

I once bought a wardrobe from Argos and I vowed i would never buy furniture from there again. It was just filmsy.

I used to live in a house share and they had a wardrobe from Ikea. It seemed to last them a fair while. But I have never had any furniture from Ikea so I really couldnt say.

x

eurgh, ikea all the way!! Argos is crap for furniture, way too cheap and flimsy! If you want it to last then get the stuff in Ikea

Which set have you found? what do the customer reviews say coz they usually give a pretty good indication as to what it will be like. Plus, with Ikea you can actually go see the quality before you buy

Ikea by far, there stuff lasts for years, i love ikea.

i have found in the past both are simular quality.
i prefer argos as i've found its easier to get replacement, extra parts. we were missing screws and they sent them in the post. we also recieved a shelf part with a damaged veneer, they sent a whole replacement box and told us to exchange with a new one on the delivery lorry and they would take the rest back as they didnt stock it seperately.
although saying that i've never had any missing or damaged parts from ikea..

Ikea - they have an excellent after sales policy and have repaired/replaced things for me years since I bought them. I once bought some shelves (4 packs) and one lot didnt have enough fixings - I called our local store (admittedly only 7 miles up the road) & customer services got the delivery people to drop off a bag of the bits I needed later that day.
They also have a very good eco view on production, I have no idea where Argos get their goods from.
IMO, Argos furniture is a waste of money. Seems to fall apart after little use and once outside of your statutory period they dont care about complaints.

oh really, shite. haha. I dunno what to do, I can AFFORD Argos, but i do LIKE ikea... Im going to ikea on the weekend but there is no way i can get the bigger things home, and cant afford the delivery, for me its like £50 per item or something. Im about an hour away! argh i dunno...

Ikea! Argos furniture has literally fell apart in my hands before :(

oh no :( has ANYONE got ANYTHING positive about Argos?? :S Its so much more affordable for me :( ( but then i cant afford to have to replace or have it break!)

Ebay's great for furniture too hun, even for new stuff that be delivered to you. x

I wanted a bed like this and they where like 200 300 quid but i got this from argos and i love love love it looks well expensive

Never got any other furniture though.

I have that bed  i hate it!

I just got a 500 pound creme suede bed from bedshed reduced to 100 for my flat, so its furniture i need, wouldnt mind so much about a bed, but i dont want wobbly wardrobes!

Hmmmmm Ikea or argos.......

I get staff discount in argos so it usually works for me  Though some of thier furniture is ridiculously flimsy i think it depends on what you're buying eg my desk and bed are really great and sturdy whereas my bedside desk and bookcase are pretty crappy with cardboard bases in bottom on drawer and cardboard backing. Basically some argos furniture is like chipboard with a thin plasticy wood coating over it. But some is great stuff! Homebase do some argos stuff as well but more the better quality stuff iykwim. Argos is great for shelving, accessories etc and I find them cheaper than Ikea...but for wardrobes etc I would go Ikea probably. You get them flat packed and you can go around the shop and get ideas :) And sometimes they have really great discounts on random items!

yep im gonna go to ikea, see what they have, what i can afford, and then decide. Ill maybe sacrifice my ikea kitchenware and get tesco or asda and then get wardrobes from ikea...

Dont buy the malibu furniture from argos- the draws only open about 6 or 7 inches and are really difficult to put stuff in oh, and the bottoms of the draws often fall out.

Our bed and dining table are from argos. Never had a problem with them. We've had our bed nearly two years and its still perfect! x

yeah my bed is fine too, but i dont think its the bed's that are a problem, from what i have read on reviews and here it seems its the flat pack furniture which is flimsy? am i right ? thats what i need, so i dont wanna risk it if its gonna break in 6 months cos i wont be able to replace it. i was gonna get my bed from there regardless, but then i found that deal today so got that,

Our tables great yeah :) for our price range its perfect. I'll try find a link to the one we've got now xx

thats our bed:

and this is our table:

I mean yes they are cheap. but we've not had a problem with either of them! and we cant afford anything more than that xx
