Cloth......for good:cry:

Ive realised I am just making more work for myself and I'm getting stressed!

I already have 4 kids and its more than a full time job washing for them all, let alone Leo's nappies.:dohh:

I'm sick of scraping poo out of them, and sick of his stinking of pee every morning:dohh:

So after a short stint is sposies for nappy rash I'm converted back to sposies....

I'm sorry...I feel such a failure but I just cant keep it up........

sooooooooooooo my nappies are all going:cry:

I have loads of BUMGENIUS V3's and AIO Organics and my beloved custom made weenotions, all up for grabs, aswell as loads of spare soakers, a few wraps and even my Good Mamas goodnight is going...

I'm so sad, but its for the best.

So I bid you all farewell and happy nappying...(will post my nappies in here for sale later on)

:flower:

Aw hunny, don't worry about it! You aren't a failure! Happy mummy's make happy babies and if its getting you stressed then it's not worth it!

:hugs:

Ps - the viewing rate on this section is going to skyscrape now you have mentioned selling your stash!!!

Awww hun, don't feel bad. I only said to Maya (Plumfairy) the other day about giving up cloth at night, that youy have to do what's right for you as a family and as already said, a Happy Mummy = a Happy Baby! :D

You know I'm on the verge of giving up too....we're having a cloth day today but one has already leaked and so a new set of clothes go on :dohh: more washing!!!!

I was only thinking this morning that I want to convert to just BG AIO Orangnics from V3's now as they last longer and *touch wood* don't seem to leak but I'm still undecided.

You gotta do what's right and think of the money you'll make selling all your lush cloth

(Remember I always get first dibs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

of course Laurie...goes without saying:thumbup:

even the organics are hard work...i have to dry rthem in the drier here and they can take upto 2 hours!:dohh:

he stinks like a toilet everymorning too.

i dont have much of an issue with leaks but i do have issues with good fits too, although the BG's, and BB's are fab fits...ive really enjoyed not having to scrape poo out 4 times a day and wash them whilst he's been in the sposies:blush:

:hugs:

We had to stop using cloth while Claire is crawling. :( She's so chunky that her skin on her leg and above where the velcro tabs rub against each other while she crawls and she gets some wicked friction burns. Not to mention they are leaking like crazy, and we're already on the top size of them... in disposables this would be when you move up a size. I think she needs to slim out a bit more (once she starts walking more) before we can go back to them.

However, if they don't work they don't work. I love using the cloth diapers, but not to the extent of making extra work for myself. :hugs:

I wish I could come do laundry for you!! It's my secret passion.

I don't think you should feel guilty at all for your decision. You tried and it didn't work out. Doesn't make you any less of a mommy! You did (albeit, unknowingly) help me decide to use cloth and as I have only one other child and a deployed husband, I get bored and look forward to changing diapers and scaping poo. :haha: So, thank you VERY much for helping me in my decision. It's made me so very happy!

I will miss seeing all of your lovely purchases, though. Was the highlight of many lonely days for me. :hugs:

I've got to ask reading this thread.....how do you make using cloth nappies easier?

It seems so many people have issues with them but not with disposables.....it does make you feel like giving up!

Any tips?

I think I'm just lucky that at the moment Olivia only poops once every 2-3 days, so I don't have tonnes of rinsing etc to do (though im sure this will change when we start weaning!). I also find a really regular routine with it works for me. Last nappy change before bath and bed at 4-5ish, after this stick them all in for washing. Daddy comes home and has daddy and liv time at 6:30 so I stick them in the boiler cupboard to dry overnight. Wake up in the morning and while liv is having nappy off time after her first feed, stuff them and shove them in the cupboard ready to use! I do this little routine every 2-3 days depending on when poo day falls! Apart from the washing, I really don't find it any different to using disposables. In fact I find it easier and more pleasant (I hated lifting the stinky bins in changing rooms to put the sposies in, hated changing our nappy bin at home etc...think I have a weak stomach!) And i think I've only ever had about 1-2 leaks ever with them...think I'm just lucky! xxx

My mom did it the old fashioned way with four kids and I thought she was nuts! I've taken a lot of advice from her when I started thinking about it. When I saw the cost of what you guys are buying, it put me off of it. I started by just buying the chinese prefolds and little pull on pants. I've been doing that since day one with no leaks. Now I use pretty little wraps, just because it's more fun for me. :winkwink: Still the same though..prefolds and I always use a snappi and I've done it through yucky newborn poo and everything with no issues. When she poos, I just take it off, let it soak in the toilet for a bit and everything pretty much comes right out.

I use Tots Bots with an extra doubler and a fleece liner at night, still no leaks with that either.

I am going to order some of the Bum Genius you girls have raved about just because I think it might be nice to not have to change her so often when I'm out at the stores or something.

I don't know if any of that has helped, but I honestly don't find it to be any more difficult than using disposables. That's just me though, so please don't take offense. Everybody has different preferences and circumstances!!

Good luck in any decision you make. The fact that any of you are agonizing about diapering choices just shows what great moms you truly are!! :hugs:

I really wish it didnt have to be this way, I have put my heart and soul into it.....but now he's weaned he's pooping like 4 times a day:dohh: Its a nightmare to get out and ive forver got crap all over my hands

Hats off to you girls that have stuck it out though....:flower:

Aww don't feel bad :( We are back to cloth full time. I'm actually missing cloth though. I'm thinking of going back...haven't decided.

Did you say goodmama goodnight!? hmmm

For me, using the diaper liners was a godsend when it came to the poop. Especially now that Claire's poops are more solid, I just remove the liner with the mess and flush it down the toilet. Occasionally small amounts of poop end up on the edges of the diaper but it isn't really that bad to clean up.

If I had to scrape off full poops I'd never have lasted as long as I did. The only reason why we went back to disposables is because of the chafing as Claire has super chubby thighs. I'm hoping to go back once she's walking and the chafing isn't an issue.

Our biggest thing was leaking overnight. Getting a full nights sleep with a disposable means more to me than having to get up once, twice a night to change her fully out of her sleepsack, sleeper and diaper because she's leaking through.

The liners were really what the biggest help was, I don't know how people use cloth without them. But that's just my opinion.
