Every morning this week I have seen a magpie!

I'm sure it must live near me, so I've seen it on the way to work every day. This morning (the day of my scan), I was getting ready and doing my ironing, looked out the window and it was on our drive!!

Like I say, I'm not normally one for superstitions or old wives tales, but can't help but have a bit of an ominous feeling! One for sorrow and all that, just before my scan, not good! :dohh:

I think magpies are beautiful I dunno if there's a superstition attach to them if so its bullocks lol

Have a great scan today xx

magpies have a superstition??? i know about crows and ravens.. but i don't think magpies mean all that much. well.. actually i don't think any of them mean much.. theyre all very common birds. you're fine love<3

Oh I know they're all a load of poo, but because I'm feeling nervous for scan already, I think it just seemed to intensify the worry a little!

I see magpies all the time and they would never normally bother me in the slightest!

xx

Ahhh the magpies... I've a love hate relationship here, I love them when I see two hate when I see one lol

I've to that live in the tree behind our new house. Somedays only the one is there and I nearly freak out and sometimes the two are there. I've had to just salute and tell him to go find his wife!

I don't no what I believe ta be honest but I know if I'm on a bad back road and see one I usually slow down, and true enough a car will come flying round the next corner!

They've helped me out on that sense but the 2/1 that I see every morning, I only seen one the morning of my scan and baby's perfect.. Although me and oh had a lil tiff later on lol

Try not worry hun, believe me I know it's tormenting. Just salute them and tell him to go find his wife! X

i was told when younger that if you saw a solitary magpie you had to say "hello mr magpie how are you today" to take away the superstition of 1 for sorrow. i know its a load of bull but thought i would tell you anyway.

where does this superstition come from? all i know are

1 for sorrow
2 for joy
3 for a girl
4 for a boy
5 for silver
6 for gold
7 for a secret never to be told

is there any more?

anyway wishing you a happy healthy 9 months :flower: and enjoy your scan

I have seen loads recently. I once heard that if you salute them then it cancels out the bad luck (sorrow), so hubby is constantly laughing at me when we are driving along in the car and I have to keep saluting at these damn birds!

I remember a few weeks back before we knew the gender we saw a group of four magpies, but three of them looked like they were killing the fourth one... not sure what that means lolol!

hehe, just salute the magpie and say morning mister magpie and you wont need to worry! :D Plus just imagine another magpie is hiding just out of view, two is great news scan wise!!

Ha, my boyfriend always seems to see just the one magpie - I joke that it is following him. He always salutes it and says 'hello Mr magpie', and no harm has come to him yet!

My friend on here has a superstition with magpies bless her x
We have one at work that comes & pecks the window everyday lol I just salute & say hello mr magpie hows your wife x

When i was pregnant with my first child my dad saw 4 magpies which means boy and i had a boy, this time around he has seen 3 magpies but we are on team yellow and will have to wait until sept to find out if the 3 magpies meaning girl is correct

I KEEP seeing single magpies & it's freaking me out! I really can't remember the last time I saw more than 1 of them. Like OP, I'm trying not to freak out, but give them a wee salute just in case!

i have 2 magpies in my garden every morning lol, only in the morning and they are always there when i open the curtains, sitting on my dd trampoline lol, i think they are nice!

The only other 2 I know is 8 for romance, 9 for love, (maybe the other way around lol). And i always got told that 1 was something between seeing it and the same time the next day, 2 was 2 days later, 3 - 3 days later etc...

I'm the same... Saw 4 the other day.... but I'd like a girl this time  lol

I am OBSESSED with magpies!!!

I have seen one everyday the whole of my pregnancy and am convinced its my little protector :haha: (sad i know)
I read on Google that they are considered a 'lucky' bird in one country...I think its China?

I think they're beautiful birds :flower:

I have that superstition, morning mr magpie, how's your wife, tap your hand and touch something black.. I do it every time. Its so silly really!

Oh i got it wrong :( Lol. Least I know now :haha: Not that I ever see that many x

wow lol, that reminds me we used to do "touch black take it back, touch green never seen" I've been so supersticious with magpies with all my pregnancies, but since i saved one that had a damaged wing in my friends garden when i was about 16w, i've not been so bad, surely i've done good by the magpie world so i should not worry lol. It was like the ultimate bad luck sat in my car with a single magpie on my lap on its way to the vets. lol I'm glad i'm not the only one who is supersticious.
