Immunize or not?

We chose too have Aymen immunised, we decided that the pro's far outweigh the cons...yada yada yada...

Big cheer to all the folk having there children protected, it means my kid is less likely to catch something, so right back atcha ;)

GP here! Have and will continue to immunise. Unless contraindicated due to allergies etc to not vaccinate IMO is highly irresponsible. I have no qualms with those who wish to delay or spread them out.

I noticed a few posts mentioned here about their LO's or heard of someone's LO have a rxn to vaccinations. I am still a baby nurse (with only 3 years under my belt) and very young in my career. In those 3 years, I have floated to peds, internal medicine, and adult/pedi urgent care. I administer vaccinations to adult and pedi patients everyday, especially the mmr/dtap/tdap, and I don't recall any severe rxns or complications from any of my patients. I'm just curious as to what you have encountered.

Here in my area, it is almost unheard of to not vaccinate but most of my friends are nurses/physicians, even DH so we may be medically bias :flower:

I a mentioned on page 7, stiletto, my only vaxxed child now has microcephaly among a whole other list of symptoms. We know she has a neurometabolic disorder, but not sure which one. She's still undergoing tests. While it has not been proven, there is a possibility that her condition was triggered by a vaccine. She was born perfectly healthy and normal, and there was no evidence of any underlying conditions on a CT Scan at 5 weeks old. Until we know what her condition is, we won't be able to rule it out as a possibility. Given that her HC slowed it's growth the same week she had her first vax, there is the possibility. I also posted pictures of her reactions on page 7 or 8.

Im 5 years into my career. Ive never seen anyone have a bad experience or a complication to a vax. I have however seen the serious consequences of not immunising whch Im sure you have too :flower:

My 8 year old had a bad reaction to the Polio vaccine but it has been change now.
It used to be given as a drop on the tongue. My doctor assured me the new form given in a jab is much more safe. She said that is why they changed it as reactions were common with the drops.
His reaction was that he was hospitalised with a very high fever.

She won't see it, but adults can die from chicken pox cause it changes into shingles.

Shingles deaths? I've had them three times. I had a very bad case of chicken pox as a baby. Six months old and covered in them according to my mom.

Shingles was painful, but I never feared dying.

Me my hubby and sister have all had shingles it's caused by the virus resurfacing after the initial infection. In the old days they used to say that if the band of blisters that goes.around your body touch at either side then you die. Thats what that ring of roses song was about. Don't think its true though  My sister was very ill from shingles but she was about 10 and apparently it is really rare to get it so young. Hubby had shinges while I was pregnant this time.

I was 16 the first time that I had them and they were surprised by my age as well. I have had them twice since then and I'm still not 60!

The last time was the easiest because I recognized it early and began the pills right awy.

the song was about the plague not chicken pox

I thought the ring of roses song was about the plague?

Either that or I have a history teacher with a few things to answer for lol!

Very simple for our family.

There is NO credible scientific evidence for not vaccinating. It is THAT SIMPLE:shrug:.

My daughter has just had a rash from the MMR. Am i bothered? No. Rather have her protected.

And i would like to avoid her being in intensive care pumped full of chemicals (some taht rid the body of its immune system) and sufferring the consequences of THOSE medicines and possible disabilities.

No brainer!

me too! And with 14 years under me belt:thumbup:

Aidan is fully vaccinated and this baby will be too. I did extensive research and for me the benefits defiantly outweigh the risk. I find it worrying that more and more people are choosing not to vaccinate their children what so ever. Over the recent years that has been a clear correlation between people choosing not to vaccinate their children and the rise in the diseases that are vaccinated against. Some people say "Vaccinations don't prevent the disease so whats the point in vaccinating. My reply would be whilst in my first year of nursing school I witnessed children with the diseases that are vaccinated against. The ones that had been vaccinated seemed to recover much faster this is due to the fact their bodies already has anti-bodies to fight the disease then therefore they were 'prepared' to fight off teh infection. Children that hadn't been vaccinated seemed to go down hill very quickly and often had lasting effects it was heartbreaking to watch. So based on all of that my opinion is that vaccinations do save lives andif people continue to not vaccinate then disease levels will rise and people will suffer due to this x

So far he's had everything about mmr which I am at minimum delaying until 2 and possibily the only one he will not have

I have all of LO's jabs so far and will be following the standard schedule as they come due.

The rates of diseases like measles have been on the rise due to the number of unimmunized children out there. The more children who are immunized means that children who can't be for medical reasons will also be protected.

My cousin insisted that the MMR caused her eldest sons autism so did not vaccinate her youngest son. Her youngest son has however just had his autism diagnosis.

The song was not about the plague :dohh:

"Ring a Ring o' Roses" or "Ring Around the Rosie" is a nursery rhyme or folksong and playground singing game. It first appeared in print in 1881; but it is reported that a version was already being sung to the current tune in the 1790s. It has a Roud Folk Song Index number of 7925. Urban legend says the song originally described the plague, but folklorists reject this idea.
