Immunize or not?

oooh, I was always taught that it was referring to the plague! My history teacher needs updating!

Yeah, I did a huge research report in my human biology class on the bubonic plague.

so the rhyme is about the plague there are just different versions of it?

It's not about the plague, but because of the words, it has been associated with it.

Someone somewhere in history decided the lyrics were an interpretation of what happened with the plague, but it`s nothing more than a harmless children`s rhyme.

Me my hubby and sister have all had shingles it's caused by the virus resurfacing after the initial infection. In the old days they used to say that if the band of blisters that goes.around your body touch at either side then you die. Thats what that ring of roses song was about. Don't think its true though  My sister was very ill from shingles but she was about 10 and apparently it is really rare to get it so young. Hubby had shinges while I was pregnant this time.

the song was about the plague not chicken pox

No I meant it was about shingles, well thats what my auntie told me. My bad. Although the shingles ring made perfect sense to me so I never questioned it.

hmm

Ring-a-ring o' rosies
Pocket full of posies
A'Tishoo A'Tishoo
We all fall down

ashes in the water
ashes in the sea
we all jump up
with a 1 2 3

i dont think theres much doubt that that version is about the plague and the fire of london, though there of course could have been an original version of it that wasnt about the plague.

btw i have now got that in my head for the rest of the day (though jake finds it very funny because i keep singing it to him over and over again)
