Hi,

After 2 mmc in the past 12 months (and being an older mother at 40), I tested positive on Friday which was a bit of a shock. My dilemma is that 3 months ago I started a new job and I hate it. Before taking this job, I'd had to choose between my current job and another, now on Friday, the other place came back to me and asked how seriously I would like to work for them.

My dilemma is - do I go for the job knowing I'm pregnant (after 2 mmc I'm wary about this pregnancy going well) or do I stick with the job I hate. The job I'm in now offers only the basic in terms of maternity pay anyway (6 weeks then the rest at statutory mat pay).

I am really happy about being preg but it's amazing how when your not expecting it, it happens.

Any advice would be appreciated

If you're unhappy in your job then there's no question- take the other one. You dot need to tell employers about a pregnancy until your twelve weeks. Life's too short to be unhappy and I'm sure you're little bean would want a happy mummy xxx

Well said!

Take the job. I have had a similar thing last week. I had applied or a promotion at work and in between applying and the interviews I found out I was pregnant. I have accepted to job and start in January. I will be going on mat leave early July and and then not sure if I will return or not.

I feel a little guilty about it but I think after suffering a mmc in June you never know what is going to happen and your life can or be put on hold. If you current company only offer you and min benefits anyway you won't loose out financially and will probably mean u will have a more enjoyable pregnancy working somewhere you like. How many weeks are u? You could always say u didn't know when you accepted the job or be up front with them if u have a good relationship and plan to go back to work after having your baby.

Good luck x

Hi,

I'll be 5 +1 weeks this Friday so very early days - I only tested because I was feeling slightly sick on an evening.

I have everything crossed at the moment that this pregnancy continues successfully. I haven't even said anything to my husband yet as I don't want him to worry about us financially.

Thanks for everyone's replies
