We were not going to add a rail. The one thing I know about babies is that you don't step even a foot away if they have the potential to fall. And after hearing story after story of babies who couldn't even sit up by themselves suddenly being found atop the crib rail or on the floor when the mattress was at the higher setting, I think a guardrail is nothing but a false sense of security. I think most parents have a story involving their baby managing to throw themselves off of something that didn't seem possible at the time. I will have all necessary supplies right there and get a pad with a strap possibly.

We bought a convertible bed, and all the extra furniture to match it. It's a little pricey, but our plan is to use it as a permanent bedroom set for 20+ years. It's not in the picture, but we also bought the little nightstand that's available.
