For as long as I can remember iv always had migraines with aura.
I used to get them atleast once a week. So was put on propranolol. A beta blocker.
They then went to about 3 times a year.
I'm still taking the propranolol now and I'm literally having migraines almost everyday. If it's not zigzags in my vision and being left feeling dreadful it's an awful pressure headache and feels asthough iv a band wrapped around my head and my ears hurt with it.
Paracetamol does absolutely nothing. I know its thanks to my hormones and probably because I'm 32 weeks pregnant but these are just so deliberating. They make me so upset.
I also get what I can only describe as fuzzy headed. Dizzy without the spinning.
I'm just wondering if anyone else can relate?
Thankyou.

I know one theory of migraine is that it's related to blood pressure changes in the brain. As you re in 3rd trimester I think it would be worth getting your blood pressure checked, as blood pressure changes can be associated with some more serious conditions.

It's not my blood pressure luv. I'm a high risk pregnancy so checked and scanned every two weeks. My blood pressure has continued to stay on the low side xx

My ob told me to take a magnesium supplement and I began to see a difference after being on it for a while. I don’t know if it would help you but also wanted to let you know you’re not alone. I suffer constant migraines that paracetamol does nothing for.

I used to suffer from chronic migraines so would have them for weeks at a time and end up in hospital for days. I now only get 1 or so a month less when pregnant and breastfeeding. I got a few while pregnant and it was so upsetting sorry I have no help or suggestions nothing helps for me. I get a bad aura too which is nearly worse than the headache. I have heard the sickness bands help some people with the dizziness but it did nothing for me.

I feel for you hun I suffer with migraine with aura too, and when I'm having an attack I feel like if I died there and then, i wouldn't care at all! It takes it out of me for days on end, i go blind in my left eye and constantly vomiting.... but I don't suffer migraine with pregnancy, which is strange because my migraines are caused my hormones!

Hey when i was in hosp a girl with v bad migraines making her vomit had dihydrocodeine. I dont know if thats compatible with beta blockers and yours in particular and whether it is even prescribed for at home use but it seemed to give her breaks at times.

I suffer from chronic migraines. Been hospitalised with seizures etc because of them. Was on a high dose of propranolol each day but havnt actually had one since being pregnant. It’s weird. Defo not always high BP related as my BP is always on the good side even though I’m bigger. I havnt however, lost the fuzzy headed feeling throughout this whole pregnancy and I do wonder if it’s related. Since the seizures my short term memory has been pretty poor and I’m apt to forgetting things. That’s about twenty times worse in pregnancy. I’m not sure people really understand migraines unless you have had them

Oh sorry I should also say that I don’t always manage to catch my migraines with medication in time as they are nocturnal and I wake up with them. When that happens, I’m a tad screwed and you can kiss goodbye to work for the day
