Increasing Clomid myself?

Hi ladies,

Will be starting round 2 of Clomid today (days 2-6) on 50mg.

This may come across as a stupid question but do any of you think it's possible to double up the doseage e.g take 2 tablets instead of 1 to increase the amount from 50mg to 100mg?

The reason I'm asking is it seems that most women receive a BFP on 100mg not 50mg. I do ov myself but the doc wants to see if I can produce more than one egg.

I've been prescribed Clomid for 5 months so I have enough to try!!

i know that it's possible as 2 x 50mg are the same as 1 x 100mg tablet i.e the concentration of things is the same iykwim?!

however, it would be better to discuss with your doc first as i understand higher doseages of Clomid can lead to problems regarding implantation as it thins the lining.

i am on 100mg even though i ovulate by myself, we are suffering with male factor so giving this a shot before we move onto anything else.

I would probably give the 50ml a go first hun! The only reason I say that is because I also ovulate on my own, have taken 50ml for two cycles and overstimulated on both. The first cycle resulted in a BFP ...but sadly ended in a mc. I have taken 50ml again this month and produced 7 follies! But three that have popped. I would seriously just see how your first month goes....are you having tracking? You may well find that 50ml is just the little boost you need.

Yeah, I agree with others and wouldn't do it without speaking with the Zdr first. Mine told me they may have to prescribe other drugs to help with the womb lining as higher dose of Clomid can thin it. And overstimulation is another thing to think about. so I'd stick with 50 for now

I definitely wouldn't do this without first speaking with your doctor. Try the 50 mgs first...I have a good response with 50 mgs (3 eggs) so you may not need the extra dosage.

Are you having scans this cycle hun? I didnt ov on 50mg and the fs nurse upped my dose after my scan xx

Def speak to Dr in case you hyper stimulate.
Many get pregnant on 50mg. I did! I am not sure most people get pregnant on 100mg?

Hi there, def speak to your doc first. Like yourself I am ovulating and have just finished my 4th cycle of 50mg clomid (doc prescribed 6 months). When I rang my doc the other week to see if I could double mine he said no because I was ovulating x

No my doc said I didn't need to be monitored at all!

This time round I'm having a few side effects from taking Clomid, I'm having hot flushes & sort of goosebumps up my left leg!

Decided that I won't do anything until its agreed by the doc in Jan 2011, I'm praying & hoping that clomid works this time around!
