My DS is almost 4 weeks old and so far he's only had bm. I'm afraid my supply isn't going to keep up with him. Plus I would like to start storing some as I will be returning to work in a couple weeks.

Do u ladies have any advice or tricks on how to keep my supply up or add to it?

Yes! Mothers milk tea doubled my supply and power pumping(pump 10 min on, 10 min off for an hour) helps a lot as well as it mimics cluster feeding!

Yes mothers milk tea and I pump in the morning and freeze in pouches because that's when your breasts are at their fullest good luck!

I bought the mothers milk and had a cup this evening. I'm glad it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be but I did add a little bit of sugar. Hope that's okay.

The power pumping do I still do it if nothing is coming out? Sorry for all the questions. I'm just a little paranoid about this.

It's sooo good to ask questions!!! Believe me, I wish I would have asked more with my first 2, this is my first baby I've been able to ebf and I know it's because I'm much more educated this time around :)

Yes that is what tells your body to make more milk! I would aim for 3-4 cups of mothers milk tea spread throughout the day, try adding some half and half and sugar, it's actually pretty yummy that way and the cream is full of good fat which is good for you/baby

I eat oatmeal with flax and Brewers yeast, drink lots of water and Gatorade, take one capsule of Fenugreek daily with my postnatal vitamin and I do NOT diet... I eat whatever I want when I want it. I've pumped a good 25 ounces combined during my three pump breaks at work and always have more than enough for LO. We had to buy a deep freezer!

Visit www.puritan.com for flax, fenugreek and Brewers yeast.

WOW!!! MamaBunny I can not explain how envious I am of you right now lol. That's so amazing how much milk you can pump at work.
I have a neighbor of mine who is a baker start making me lactation cookies with the oatmeal and Fenugreek. I will take ur advice and stop on the way home for some Fenugreek pills to start taking. I have cut down on eating which hasnt helped...

I told myself from the start that I would not focus on my weight or diet and make breastfeeding and baby my #1. Don't get me wrong, I don't binge on crappy junk 24/7 but I think you get the idea :winkwink: I hear Oreos do wonders for supply! Also, Not Your Father's Root Beer is supposed to help as well... it's alcoholic (beer), but if you drink just one every so often you should be fine. I haaaate beer, the taste, but have tried the root beer and it tastes just like the carbonated beverage! Like I said, if you are looking for Fenugreek tablets, Brewer's yeast and ground flax or seed visit www.puritan.com. You can find everything there for amazing prices!

Here is a yummy lactation cookie recipe I've used: Chocolate Chip Lactation Cookies

...and a lactation ball recipe I've tried as well: No-bake Lactation Bites

These tips are great for keeping your supply up if you think it might dip due to being away from LO in order to work, however I'm curious as to why you fear your supply wouldn't "keep up with him" otherwise? Breastfeeding is almost symbiotic; if he demands it your body will supply it, no matter how big or hungry the baby. Do you have any symptoms of faltering supply?

I'm just not sure if pumping brestmilk is different from him nursing. I feel like since I'm not home wo nurse whenever he's hungry it wont be the same. Also I'm only able to pump 3 times during my work day. 2 breaks, and a lunch...

Awesome! I'm glad I found your post :winkwink: And like PP mentioned, milk is a supply and demand thing so your body *should* be able to keep up with your baby. There are many things you can do for a boost, which doesn't hurt to have a lil extra! As long as you can pump what your LO will need for the following day while you are away then you're good! And I've read many times that you should not let your pump output be an indicator of how much milk you're producing. Baby is much more efficient at getting milk out than a pump. Women respond differently to the pump. My advice is to relax, keep your mind off the pump and don't watch it! I take snacks, a drink and my phone so I can Facebook while I'm pumping in my car at work. And I've heard (and tried myself) that applying a bit of lanolin or nipple cream before pumping helps  How long is your work day? I am away for 8 hours and pump three times a day.

No you are right, pumping can affect supply because you aren't doing it to his demands, I just thought you meant that even before going back to work you were worried about your supply. Good to know all is good there!

My work day is 8 hours. But with traffic, and dropping and picking my daughter up from school I'm gone 11 hours total. So I'm gone a little pit and can't pump when I'm driving and running around.
I'll bring some of my lanolin tomorrow. I've never heard of that before. Right now my mom is supplementing 1 or 2 botttles a day of formula. But I want him only on BM. And I'm trying so hard, I just feel like its so much better for him.
