Hi ladies!

So I have an induction booked for tomorrow at 4:30pm - I have no idea what's going to happen, I'm just going from the stories I've read on this forum. I guess they'll tell me tomorrow when I get there.

Just wondered though, how long do you think I'll be in Hospital for? I'm guessing I probably won't have bubs until Saturday

Thanks :) xx

when i was induced at 42 weeks i went in on the sunday & 9am & had him at 7 am Tuesday morning. I had my waters broken on monday night at 10pm & before that it was just a lot of walking. My advice is dont sit down if you need to have the pessary ( obviously do whilst its 'first working' but keep walking & go up & down stairs. It took me a day & a half to get to 2cm. i guess it also depends on how favourable you are etc do you know?x

i was in from a friday morn untill the mon afternoon..now the actual labour was only an hr and 40 mins..but it took 3 pesseries to work for me and to get me to dialate so i cud get my waters broken..then i was put on a drip to speed things up
xx

Depends hun, they will examine and apply some prostin gel which they leave for 4-6 hours and then examine you again, if you have dilated enough to have your waters broken then they will take you down to delivery suite, if not they will apply some more gel and repeat the whole process. The gel is to get your cervix to dilate, once they have done that they will set you up with the drip to start/make contractions stronger. So really it all depends on how long you need to get you dilated. As for after the birth it's the same stay in as if you had laboured naturally, which is if all is well as long as you want really xx

Don't worry about being induced, I have been induced twice and I found it much calmer and reasurring than labouring naturally, it was also almost pain free as you are advised to have an epidural with induction due to the contractions being stronger than natural ones.

Good luck hun xx can't wait to read your birth story and see baby piccys, I shall be thinking of you tomorrow xx

Thankyou :)

I have no idea how favourable I am... I guess I'll find out tomorrow :)

i went in at 9am with harry they didnt really pay me any attn til they gave me pessary at 3.20 n he was born at 8:02pm and i was home by lunchtime the next day x

Hey. With dd i went in to be induced at 9pm on the Friday, they didnt get round to seeing me until 1am Saturday morning and i went into full blown labour straight away. I was having contractions every 2 minutes for the next 19 hours and had her at 8pm Saturday. Went home Sunday afternoon.
Fingers crossed for tomorrow though, hope it all goes well. Sending hugs :hugs:

At my antenatal class on Tuesday, we were told by the midwife that an induction takes 3 days.

I think she must have meant CAN take three days because there is no possible way of putting a exact time on it because it all depends on how favorable the cervix is. I have been induced twice and it only took a few hours both times.
3 days I would think is rare because most ladies being induced are overdue so likely to be favorable to some extent.
I would think the 3 day scenario would be if you were being induced early for some reason. xx

Good luck tomorrow I go in on Saturday and am dreading it!

Thanks again for your replies, fingers crossed it all goes smoothly and I'm *not* in for 3 days lol.

I will be keeping you all updated anyway - and I'm sure my text buddy will let you know when I've given birth :)

:hugs: xx

I doubt very much (from previous experience) that it will take 3 days xx

Ah, that would probably explain it then as the MW knows I have gestational diabetes and will almost certainly be induced 2 weeks early :(
