I was advised by my health visitor to buy some infacol for my LO,
She has been fine with it, but you can see by her face how much she hates the taste! anyway I stayed at MILs last night, she works in a dr surgery and today has asked one of the drs about it - great, lovely gesture getting information for me - but it doesn't sound right.
She said the doctor said that infacol shouldn't be given straight to a baby (it says on the leaflet to put half a dropper full on the back of babys tounge) and it should only be given in a bottle - now im breastfeeding so would have to express, don't want to, MIL has been trying to pressure me to bottle feed since day one, and now I'm pretty sure I know why - last night she said "its such a shame your not bottle feeding, I could of looked after her through a few nights a week and let you get some sleep"
I don't know if shes just trying to find a way to get my 3 week old daughter overnight, or this is truly what a doctor said, has anyone heard anything like this before?

Nope we always gave it straight into her mouth using the dropper. Some of the other colic treatments do go into the bottle because they break down the lactose so have to be in the milk about 30 mins before you give the feed but not infacol.

I've never heard this before, if this is the case, then I've been doing it wrong!

My DS is breastfed and I just put a few drops on his tongue like it says on the bottle. I never even thought to give it to him in a bottle along with his milk. Having said that, he seems to really like the taste of it!

sounds wrong to me!
The whole point of giving it before the baby feeds is so then it helps to break down any air bubbles that are caused when LO is feeding etc........

We also put it straight in LO's mouth too, have never heard of it being put in a bottle before and we used it with DS when he was a baby.

Straight into the mouth before a bottle is what we do, works a treat xx

Straight into the mouth for infacol
Sounds like the doctor, or your MIL, got mixed up with colief... which does need to be mixed.

The dentinox colic drops can go in a bottle but not infacol! Would have thought a Dr would know that!!

Maybe confused with Gaviscon? But yep infacol went straight into mouth

We always used the dropper, dd loved it! It was like her first course
