Infant potty training

Any of you practice it? What are your experiences? What signs do your babies give? Do you still use nappies as backup or can you go completely without?

I'm still pregnant with my first, but as we live in rural China where elimination communication is the norm, I will be using it soon! I'd be interested to read experiences from mamas who've already done it, though, to learn all I can!
