Hi there,
I hope someone can help.... I am so frustrated with all of this.
I'll try keep it short - DB and I have been trying for over 2 years now and NTNP for about 8 months before that, never had a BFP. I'll be 37 this year and DB 43.
For the last year things with the NHS were going great. I was sent for all the usual tests, DB had his SA done and all was good... I was sent for HSG, Lap, Hysteroscopy etc. All just came back clear.
about 6 months back when I saw the consultant, I had just finished a round of clomid and she said that another thing I could try was the lap. she said options after that included assisted conception and that I was lucky because I fell within Surrey and they offer 3 IUI's and then 1 fresh and one frozen IVF. I was thrilled but we agreed that it was probably best to get the lap out the way first, then they would discuss those results with me and if all clear i'd go on the waiting list.
had my lap in december. all good no issues. so i went yesterday for my review thinking it was the day id go on the wait list for IUI... and she said i dont qualify as I dont fall within the right borough!! i just stared at her.... she said kingston doesnt offer IUI and that id have to send away to see if they will grant me funding for 1 round of IVF but thats all i'd get and only in about a years time... what the hell??
I def didnt dream her saying that i'd get 3 IUI's... she even told me the wait list was 4 months roughly... i dont know what else to say. shocked, hurt, heartbroken and down right miserable right now.
we cant afford private IUI fees. i've been clinging to this hope all along and now i am faced with yet another year at least of waiting, and even then it doesnt always work first time.
So I want to know if anyone has had something similar and if you live in the kingston/surrey areas, can you tell me what funding you have been offered?
I intedn on writing to the clinic about this as its completely crushed me. i dont know how she can a) make a mistake like that or b) mess with peoples feelings..... my life has revolved around this for so long.... tests, ops, pain, heartache and now just sent on our way saying sorry if you were misinformed.
hope someone can shed some light about funding cos the nhs website is a waste of time...
thanks ladies xxx
