After giving birth to my LO I was left paralysed in my left leg due to medical negligence :nope:

Everyone keeps telling me I should make a claim after dh has had to quit work to look after me and lily and while I know I should I don't even know where to start!

I wouldn't even know the best company to go with, do I go with one of the ones off the adverts on the telly or do I find a lawyer

Any advice on this would be amazing!!

Hmm I'm always a bit dubious when it comes to adds on the TV - do a search online and then find reviews on them to find a reputable one.

I'd think that you do have a basis for a claim - if DH is caring for you get him to apply for carers allowance also get an application in for DLA.

The problem with the ambulance chasing companies is that they will want probably around 50% of whatever your compensation may be. It's how they make their money. Do you have a credit card or a bank account that may have some legal protection associated to it?

It is much harder to win medical negligence cases than normal PI because the courts basically are very reluctant to take money from the NHS budget as compensation. Because of that, my firm would normally recommend going to a specialist medical negligence firm that are more experienced. Companies that pay a lot into call centres and TV adverts will probably want to take a higher percentage of the compensation, but the percentage will also depend on your chance of success. It might be worth looking at the news to see if there have been any successful cases recently in your area and find out who represented them?
