Hi, I am 36 and 9 weeks pregnant with my first baby. I had a prenatal appt. today and was asked about having a CVS/Amnio done. I declined the amino but did agree to the US & blood work. I'm second guessing myself now b/c I've read about the possible false positives and the PA even agreed with me. Is it worth the worry if having it done if I don't want an amino?

Hi there,

I haven't been offered CVS/Amnio yet. But I am doing Nuchal Translucency which checks for down syndrome and abnormalities. I also did all the blood work. I read that if you do the Nuchal Translucency and it comes out clear then you don't have to do CVS/Amnio. Even if my results come back positive I won't do them. It's too risky. Good luck on your decision.

i also refused the amnio/cvs.
i told my dr that I was willing to do any bloodwork or ultrasounds, but nothing that invasive/risky.
my first genetic dr appt is Thursday-i am 12 weeks. so im guessing they will do a nuchal and inform me of other tests i can take.
i think as long as the ultrasound looks ok, i am going to skip the rest.
I am a worry wart...so if i hear there is even a slight risk, i will dwell until the baby is born.
good luck to you both :)

I am planning to do the materniT21 test because I would like to avoid a CVS or amino.

I ladies! I'm 36 and I'm 2days shy of 20wks. I declined the NT u/s. but I had first and second trimester lab work drawn. Had my 20wk u/s Wed as well as lab work back. Praise God, my lil boy is healthy!!!! The doc told my chances of having a bay with downs is like 1:750,000. Even if my risk was Lower I ws gonna refuse cvs/am. Good luck ladies!!!!
