I do think fertility help should be reserved for people that have 1) actually TTC'd with the right timing for 12 months or more, and 2) both partners have undergone testing to make sure they're good candidates. Sometimes I think doctors prescribe too liberally or ttc'ers become too impatient & demand help. Nature should be given a chance. As I write this, I realize the length of that natural chance is subjective.
I thought about the risk of multiples before taking clomid. Any more than two would concern me, and I realize there's a small risk of that. This might sound naive, but I would be over the moon with twins. I'm 36 now, so instant siblings would be fantastic, assuming all healthy & happy. I didn't have a scan, but if they told me there were 2-3 eggs, I would not abstain.
I know 3 women who've used clomid & 2 of them had twins. I'm sure I know others, but they haven't admitted the help. I'm curious how many instances others know of twins. Is it really 10% or a little higher?
The article does make you think. There are always consequences to taking any drug. Sometimes we overlook that just to satisfy our emotional needs.
