Ipad or Tablet

I'm trying to decide which is best to get a Ipad or tablet.

My oldest DD says a Ipad is better than a Tablet due to the Tablet screen is very easy to break.

So trying to decide what too get for me to use an easy for using on trips.

I had an iPad 3 and it broke. Had a nightmare getting Apple to repair/replace for free (the software went funny and it kept freezing- I didn't do anything to do and even they admitted they couldn't prove that I had)

Couldn't afford to buy another so got a Kindle Fire HD and it is great. Smaller and lighter so doesn't hurt your hands after five seconds and I haven't noticed any difference in quality. Some apps that you can get with Apple you can't get with Android but I have only spotted two in the three weeks that I have had it and have downloaded ALOT of apps. Not tried dropping it on the floor to see if the screen breaks I have to be honest. Screen protector and case will help here of course.

I was going to buy the girls the same for Christmas (sick of them using my things are stickying them up!) but I found a bargain iPad which is the only reason I went for an iPad over the Kindle Fire HD again. Thinking off getting one as my Dads christmas present but will have to see with Mum tomorrow when we go shopping and pray they haven't sold out :haha:

I have an iPad 4, but I've got the ghost armour on it which will stop it breaking easily. I'm in love with it, it really is amazing.

Oh has an iPad 2, my little sister has an iPad 1. Ill be giving my iPad to my son when he's a little older and ill get myself whichever newer one is out.l they're amazing for apps, games... So versatile and amazing for uni :)

I love our iPad :D i'm a clumsy cow and have yet to break it/smash the screen (bearing in mind i've smashed 4 or so laptops in my time...)

I'm all about apple products! I'd go with an iPad. If you get a nice case and a screen shield for it, it will last a long time. Also apples App Store is by far the best. I highly recommend buying apple care with it, that way spills, drops, and other damages are covered past the 30 day warranty

And sorry to sound stupid but I thought an iPad was a tablet?

Another Apple household here!

Big apple user here but can't afford an iPad so have bought OH a cheap android tablet for Christmas :) I've played with it for a bit and for web, email and games (all he'll use it for) it looks really good! :)

The iPad is a tablet.

There are lots of crap tablets out there but there are also some really good ones.

Look at Samsung and Google nexus 7 before writing them all off.

I have an iPad which I love but function wise it does no more than my galaxy s3 phone.

I was going to buy an ipad but got myself an asus transformer instead. I'm so glad I did because I can actually do stuff on it rather than an ipad which is so limited. I got the keyboard to go with it and it turns into a little laptop which is really cool.

I'd never buy an ipad after trying android. Android is 100 times better than apple.

Goodness got a lot to think about on this. I'm thinking of getting a Ipad at first an later get a small tablet to just play around with. I'm trying to talk my Dh into letting me get a Ipad since we do lots of trips to doctors. I've got a laptop but the one I've got is just to big to carry around so wanting to get something smaller to travel with.

Ipad, all the way! Although, I have managed to break 3 (im a clumsy devil) and Im on my 4th now, all have been replaced without question as I am sensible and have them covered under accidental damage!

I'm a big fan of the apple technology :) I have ipods, iphone and ipad.

Apple person here. It just depends on your choice of operating system. I was anti apple for years and now fully converted lol. Desperate for an macbook lol.

The thing with Apple products is - they only do expensive items with a high spec. With other brands of tablet, you can get varying specs and varying prices. You have to think about it more and do research to find a good product.

Like-for-like spec on another brand will usually be quite a lot cheaper than the Apple equivalent.

DH and I are looking at buying a tablet soon, he works with computers, and in his industry they hate Apple with a passion. I have been banned from owning anything of theirs! We are considering something from Samsung, a Google Nexus or possibly an Asus Transformer - we'll see what's got a good deal when the sales are all underway.

Me and DH went out last night to look at some Ipads or Tablets but there wasn't none in the store due to Christmas shoppers but I think I've got him where can get a Ipad after Christmas too try & later get a Tablet as some of the places I order from will have more Tablets for sale but most right now are out of stock but first going to get a Ipad too play with as we love testing out different items.

Thanks to everyone for letting me know what you all like or love.. :winkwink:

Oh speaking of brands. Our family has 3 different types of computers 1 dell, 1 Acer and 1 Compaq think how you spell it.

Also got a Ipod an soon be another Ipod in the house 4G.

The serious negative for me of the iPad is that it doesn't have flash player. No online bingo for me lol. An iPad is good but there are others just as good. Best of popping in to a shop and having a play around on some.

The title made me chuckle an IPad is a tablet hun. I've just got a Kindle Fire hd for Christmas from my parent's and I'm must say it is fab, I was planning on getting the new IPad after Christmas but I won't be wasting my money now as I can do everything I wanted to do on the Kindle Fire. If you went for another tablet other than Apple I'd only go for Samsung x

I hate apple products and the way they make you pay over odds for their software and stuff. Id go with a nexus. x

This, for the same reasons. :flower: Hubby is in the computer industry as well and it drives him NUTS that Apple overcharches for pretty much everything and really isn't much better than the normal Android Tablets. :haha:

He also hates how Apple products force you to use more Apple products. My mother got an iPad Mini from my Dad for Christmas, Claire got a Nexus 7. There's far more with my 4 year old's Nexus than my Mom can do with her iPad, its crazy!

Fwiw: The Nexus 7 comes with gorilla glass, so you'd be hard pressed to actually break it. :flower:

I find with these it really all comes down to user preference. I know people who have Apple tablets and love them! Nothing wrong with that at all! But I've heard far more iPad products breaking than Android. Not sure if that's because there's a larger market of users for Apple products or if maybe Apple should evaluate redesigning their hardware so its less fragile?
