Is anyone else already dealing with super uncomfortable legs?

My legs have been bugging me more and more everyday.

They are swelling pretty bad already from the minute I start sitting at work. My boots are loose in the morning and when I put them on to go home I can barely get them done up. I can also feel my shoes get tighter with each hour. (I am only wearing a kitten heal at work, less than an inch).

Sitting is so uncomfortable. My legs always feel restless and achy. Crossing them causes more discomfort than not crossing them. I'm going crazy! :)

I go to the bathroom a lot so I am up and walking at least once an hour and I get a longer walk in at lunch. I'm not wearing anything that would restrict bloodflow (no socks, stockings, etc).

Anyone else having issues with this? (I have a midwife appt on Monday and will talk to her about it too).

I'm not experiencing any swelling yet (though I rarely get off the sofa at the moment lol) but I am getting restless legs, especially when I'm tired. It's very annoying and I just can't seem to get them comfy.

I haven't been having swelling yet either...but definately get restless legs towards the evening. It was worse a couple weeks ago, but I have good days and some are worse. I hope it gets better for you!

I haven't noticed any swelling, but they are uncomfortable - I fidget all the time when I'm at work...

I suggest talking to your doctor about wearing compression stockings. They are available in everything from a knee high to a thigh high to a full on pantyhose. They help to constrict your legs and blood vessels which helps with better blood flow (because during pregnancy your blood supply increases to allow for both you and baby, your vessels dilate. This can lead to sluggish work being done by your veins - the stocking help by compressing and increasing flow.) I am on my feet literally all day at work - I get swelling and terrible thigh cramps when working while pregnant. The stockings work wonders.
Some are available to purchase without a doctors prescription - those are the lowest compression. Your doctor will be able to tell you if they are right for you and recommend a certain compression. Once you get the go ahead call around and find a pharmacy that sells them and make sure they have a certified fitter on site to help you with sizing and show you how to properly use and care for them.
They are great - I really recommend.

And I just noticed you are in the lower mainland! That makes what I have written completely relevant to you. I was worried this was going to be read by someone in another country with different products and no one would know what I was talking about. I'm not too far from you - in Langley.

Thanks Tashry! I talked to my midwife this morning and she suggested that I start off with support stockings and see if they help enough. I hate even wearing socks and she says I will hate compression stockings, lol. If the support stockings don't help then I'll have to move to prescription compression stockings right away. She's hoping that we'll be able to survice on support stockings until 3rd trimester.

So today's activity is to go by some good support stockings, yuck!

When it comes time for compressions stockings my dr's office actually has a professional fitter that they use and I can order them directly through her.

You are very welcome. I am a pharmacy technician and at my old store I used to fit and teach about the stockings, so I know a fair bit about them.
You may not like them at first, but I bet once you start wearing them and notice how much they help you will love them. I would put mine on, feel a bit uncomfortable, but the worst feeling of all was taking them off! They helped me so much.
My only word of warning is that when buying the support stockings, if your shoe size is not in proportion with your body they may not fit. I am just over 5'11" but only wear a size 8.5 shoe. They are sold by shoe size, but the socks for 8.5 shoe do not fit me properly at all. I chose instead to go straight to the prescription pair because I was properly measured and had custom fit socks for me. I am sure for most people it is not a problem, but if you happen to have very small or large feet for your height you will most likely have trouble with the socks.

i have bad swelling legs started at 8wk for previous pregnancy with my girl... but this time, i don't have any.... only easily feel exhausted, can't stand for a long period...

Thanks for all the information Tashry! I am wearing support stockings today and going to see if they help at all... if not, I'll be getting prescription compression stockings instead of waiting! :)

I hope they have been working for you. I really need to dig mine out and start wearing them. I'm starting to get really uncomfortable too. I got out of the habit of wearing them when I took a few months off work, and now that I have been back at work (and now pregnant) I need to start up again. They are amazing, but I only tried the prescription compression stockings. I like the knee highs in a soft cotton. They can be pretty comfy.

Make sure you take proper care of them. The compression is guaranteed to last with proper care for 6 months. So no pulling, tugging, stretching them, and only hand wash in a proper cleanser meant for elastics.

I dont have swelling but I do have restless legs, especially when Im lay down at night...I just cant get comfy. I suffered with this last time and by the time I was about 30 + weeks, I can remember doing OH `s head in in bed cause I couldnt get comfy! Its a mystery to me why this happens???

So far the support stockings have been helping, but only about 50%. As I'm on xmas vacation tomorrow and only need them for work I'm going to wait till my next midwife appt to discuss compression stockings again. I'm hoping to only get the knee or thigh high instead of complete ones, I think I'll find that easier and more comfy.
