Me and OH would love a real tree but its hard because LO is on the move now and worried about all the needles. Because even if you water regular the needles still drop and he may hurt himself on them. It's one thing telling the dog off and to stay away but he now finding his feet and crawling so quickly. Is anyone else having a real tree if so any ideas? Want this Christmas to be so special as were in our new house and Bryn's first one aswell. Share your thoughts, ideas and suggestions please

Real trees arent easy. They are supposed to be kept in water outside for a day or two before going up but many people dont know that so they dont do it. After a few days with the heat inside they go droopy and its not a good look. I have a fake and I love it. Plus when I was living at my mum and dads and they had a real tree we were still finding the needles under the sofa in January lol..

when i was a kid my mam got one once and all i remember her doing was hoovering ! :?

it's the mess they leave that puts me off
in saying that I would love a real one for the smell :)

When you go and get one, ask for one that doesn't drop its needles much. We always do, and we've never had nay problems at all with needles dropping, and we keep ours up really late.

We have always had a real tree but have got a fake one for this year as i am going to be stressed with madam grabbing it, that alone worrying about pine needles x

When we were younger my mum and dad always got a real tree, I can remember my mum complaining about it but she always got another the next year !!! lol So I guess they arent that bad. I would love to get one but Dec keeps touching my tree and I know if I got a real one he would have it ruined in a matter of hours :(

Weve always had a real tree as I love them but this year as my lo is crawling and touching everything we're getting a fake one, which i still dont know whether to put it in the living room bit or the other bit so lo cant get to it. Weve always bought non drop but you always get the odd needle that falls off, plus if you have a lo around they'll probably go for it, if you get a real one nothings going to come off. If you do go for a real one, I suggest you put it somewhere where your lo cant get to it xx

OH has bought a 7ft artificial tree and its lovely. We are putting it up next saturday. Real tree next year when LO is older and knows the word NO lol

I've had a real tree every year of my life, even growing up :)

As long as you get a norwegian fir or another non drop tree (they are more expensive) then they will be fine!

I said to myself that this year I might get a fake tree but for me I just can't bring myself to do it. Having a real tree is really special. It has a look, smell and feel of christmas. For me personally its not christmas without one! aww I love them!! :cloud9:

We will always get a real tree. We got one last year and had no problem with lo touching it. I just love the smell of a christmas tree in the house!

We always have a real tree, it's better for the environment and smells lovely. I've never had a problem with the kids and the tree

Real and Fake are just about as bad as each other with regards to the environment.

We have a real tree every year. We always get a potted tree and re-plant it, this is by far the most eco friendly. With a potted tree we notice that hardly any needles drop, we water it regularly. I've only ever been able to find small potted tree (about 5 foot).

This is a picture of ours from last year.
