I found out today I am having a boy :happydance: and my daughter, a while back, suggested Charlie, which I think it cute. But will every other boy be called that too? lol

I really struggle with boy names.

No I think it's lovely :) My 4 year old is called Jacob - he's yet to have another Jacob at nursery or as a friend. I'm sure the time will come but it's not the end of the world! We love the name and it suits him so much, that's all that matters

I'm from Australia so I probably couldn't say for the UK but here it's popular but not too popular which is nice. I love the name Charlie :)

Charlie is such a cute name!
If it sounded right with our last name it would have definitely been a contender.
I'm also from Australia and I find it neither common, or uncommon. My friend just had a little boy named Charlie :flower:

I have a 7 year old called Charlie (after my dad) and a 4 year old called Jacob. There is only one other Charlie in his entire school! I don't think its as common a name as it used to be. Either way (biased I know) I think its a gorgeous name and I have to say my Charlie is an angel whereas my Jacob...well that's another story

It's a lovely name and definitely not too common, you should go for it.

"Common" names aren't as common as they used to be. The number of names in use has increased so much that I don't hear my son's "common" name used all too often... And I was one that was worried about a name being too popular as well. I think it's absolutely precious to have your daughter name him, especially since she has good taste.

Thank you all.

Yes I feel like it is meant to be, because she chose it, it makes it special. Charlie it is. :) I can just imagine his little squishy face too lol. x

My DS is called Charlie (for the exact same reason DD was adamant that would be his name and its OH middle names - well Charles is as well) and he is the only one in his preschool class. We do meet Charlie's out and about but no more than other names like Jake, Luke, Oliver etc. Boys names tend to be quite evenly spread. She loves telling him that she named him as well and now I cant imagine him being anything other than Charlie

(It might be because that's my cat's name), but I say go for it!! It's a gorgeous, timeless name. Of course you can always go with Charles and then use Charlie as a nickname, but honestly I think it works better as legal name by itself. Either way, it should be at the top of your list!

There are 2 in DS's class but he is nearly 10 and a friends 5 yo is called Charlie but thats about the last time I heard it used, I think Charlie is a gorgeous name and if you love it go for it :flower:

I've never met a Charlie in my life and I'm almost 34 :). Very lovely name.

I have a Charles (he is definitely not a Charlie) and have never come across another one. I think its a wonderful and traditional name. What a great story to tell him one day that his sister named him. O vote to go for it!

I will be honest, for us it was too common. I love the name Charlie and it's my son's middle name but we chose not to use it as a first name because of it's popularity.

I have a Charlie whose 3 and although its always up there on the popularity polls, I dont know any other little boys called Charlie. Such a cute name

It doesn't matter if you like it. So what if it is. In my opinion yes because within the people I know there has recently been a spate of baby boys called Charlie but like I said, so what?

I only know 1 Charlie and that's a girl, I wouldn't say it was too common and I love it as a boys name :D congratulations on being :blue:
